To all you guys who have a hard time putting on muscle, I know that feel

While yes I have been training for years I always struggle with actually gaining weight/size

Cardio/strength always got better, but being an ectromorph ( tall skinny dude ) it felt impossible.

However As you can see I have been able make some solid progress

in just the past year after changing up my training from MMA/BJJ to focus on purely size/strength gains ( this is necessary if your looking to gain size )

This picture was taken while I was recovering from a difficult lower back injury, being nearly completely physically inactive for nearly two months I lost a ton of weight and strength.

So I dropped any MMA training and focused primarily on size/strength gains and Did this through a bulking phase which you can see below

EDIT- How the heck do I scale these pictures down lol

Yeah that sounds a lot like me, you either get in the habit or you just fall off of it right?
Yep. I'm happy to fall into a hole then learn to get out like I did with binging and skipping workouts but if i dont have time then i just ay screw it and stop the diet and workouts. i really cant stay motivated when i miss days i could be progressing.

I prefer doing 3 full body workouts a week at the local 24 Hr. Fitness along with cardio (2.5 miles prior to each workout). I only eat fruit, vegetables, and lean meats. I try to avoid the bad stuff and give myself one cheat meal a week. I take a multivitamin, Super B complex, Vitamin C, calcium, potassium, fish oil, and green coffee bean extract daily. I also try to get in a lot of protein throughout the day and drink lots of water.

Once you get started and it becomes part of your daily routine things become easier. It doesn't matter if you work 60 hours a week, have a wife, and have children make the time to get your workout in. You'll feel better and have more energy for marathon Injustice sessions. :D

Its actually a koozie lol it came with the sweat pants.

The real key ( which I have genuinely studied ) Is eating... You have to get the correct amount of macros in order to gain and also of course constancy with training is mega important.

I have always liked the character but in injustice I cant stand him ( not because he is low tier ) but because the voice acting in this game reminds me WAY too much of the average meat head here in miami lol

I started back working out this week on p90x for first time in 6-7 months

I TRIED starting back once before but then i broke my ankle, then had to have 2 surgeries for nose so this week i finally started back so this thread is pretty timely

Interesting fact: When i was working out I was performing well in tourneys, the week i stopped (Nov-dec) my play went to absolute shit and i started choking in every local, major, etc i entered even casuals.

As of this past week i started continuously listening to my music i was listening to last year to train for MLGs and EVOs and started the same work out plan back. Im extremely superstitious so I blame my lack of physicality in the past 7 months for my stock being down.

GET PUMPED

edit: oh and the work out plan I did for 2-3 years is p90x.com

Im back on it this week and documenting weekly results

My friend swears by P90X + insanity. He has been doing it for a year and has gotten great results.

He tried P90X-2 after his insanity workout and he said it was a joke compared to the original and went back to doing the original and has continued to cut and gain muscles from it along with his strength plan.

It really is one of those TV things that works awesome.

NO MONEY DOWN
Just healed my broken toe, and I did my first run in two months today. My lungs, shins, and feet hurt, but my toe is feeling fine. Will start to get back into heavy bag work, too. Bas Rutten's awesome bag routines are a huge part of my workout. Might try P90X again; I did that for 6 months and never had any real progress with it.

I lost about 120lbs since last July. Weights are good but for me they slowed me down since I was going the endurance route. For cardio I go for about 10-12 miles on each run for about 4 days a week. I also try and finish with some sprints. Also doing sports on top of working really helps out as well.

I'm really into body weight training. Pull ups is probably the best upper body workout. It took me about 6 months before I can do one. I'm still trying to do one arm pull ups. I'm close but so hard.

Box jumps, clapping push ups, chins all great stuff.

Anyone have good weight lifting programs regarding sets/reps. I experimented with wendlers 5/3/1 and lifting heavy but it killed my stamina and hurt my speed.

When me and my friend goto the gym and hit a hard set with max weight we say "MORE VENOMMMMM". People look at us like we are crazy, oh well...

We also do Mike Tyson quotes after the set just to get some laughs out and ignore the pain. Lol.

And my Brother ( actual brother ) do shit like that too lol, expect we usually like to quote arnold or CT fletcher ( if any of you guys know who that is )

So am I the only one who uses a home gym? My dad is really into fitness so he got his own personal workout area.

If I were in the same gym and heard you say that I would walk up and respond with: "Theatricality and deception are powerful agents to the uninitiated...but we are initiated aren't we? Fellow member of TYM!" :D

I used p90 x for about 2 months last year. I just couldnt do the hour to hour and a half workouts a day. Since i am looking for less muscle mass and more leanness and joint pain relief i will be skipping out on the x. Its great if you can stay commited to it tho.

yeah it's a good option if you can afford it, but it's pretty expensive. I prefer going to the gym cause it's cheaper and sometimes I happen to socialize with people (there are a lot of meatheads and douchebags too, but I ignore them). When in the gym I'm also competitive and my workouts are more effective. I wasn't too much into squating until that really strong dude came to my gym who squated insane amounts of weight, I immediately became obsessed of besting him and now I can squat 480 lbs (twice my body weight), still haven't beat him though (guy is a beast)

It's much more difficult to put on weight than to lose weight. If you're a thin guy, it requires lots of eating, on top of lots of lifting. Quite frankly, the entire process in itself is pretty exhausting, not to mention time consuming and adds quite a bit of additional food expenses. You're going to have to force yourself to eat if you want good gains. It's by no means a mere 3 day a week thing for thin guys.

Going to the gym, blowing off steam, and lifting weights is easy. Forcing myself to wake up in the middle of the night to cram a mixture of food, aspirin, and protein down my piehole is not.
