I still have a lot to learn, but so far here's what I've learned from fighting Skarlet:
1) You can outzone her. Her daggers seem intimidating, but they do squat for damage and if she trades with characters she will lose. This means she will have to take a risk at some point to get in, thus leading to:
2) You can see her armored dash coming a mile away. If she wants to waste a bar to get a slide, fine by me; as long as I don't get caught with her combo starter I'll take the damage.
3) Her blockstrings are ridiculous, and you do need practice to know where to poke out safely or you get blown up, somewhat like Sonya.
She has a lot of tools, but I think people trying to equate her with Kabal is silly. She doesn't have a ground saw w/ stepback, she doesn't have an iagb, her armored rushdown isn't as good as the nomad dash.. Are we serious here?
1) I agree, I've said it before that her daggers aren't for zoning. She isn't allowed to trade or she loses, but the number of characters she trades with are low.
2) That's a choice some people make, if you keep waiting for the slide she can just empty dash. If not she can do a delayed slide or slash. After a while people do start blocking it.
3) True, but this part is what I meant with "knowing the MU is better for the Skarlet player". Because if the player knows that the opponent will poke out she has options to counter it where the damage can be 7% or 40%(depending the strings, ...)
She may not have a ground saw, but she has her dash with a 50/50. If you block the slide she can do an EX dash to blow through your attempt to take over pressure.
She has her instant air daggers, they are a lot harder to execute but still very usable(certainly using both the far and close dagger). Just a lot harder to get a combo of it.
Her armored dash isn't as good as Kabal's.... It's way better. Kabal has armor at the start-up, Skarlet has it through her entire dash and she can confirm into up-slash/down-slash or empty or slide. If Kabal guesses wrong => full combo punish.
Is Skarlet at the same spot of Kabal? Hell no... But she has a lot of good options.
, but on another note i need my skarlet brethren to step it up, i was so disappointed at ninj performance at mlg because i know he can do way better then he did idk what was going on...mlg dallas will be the toughest yet, luckily tho my squad will be there in full force to see me through...
