yeah im trying to deal with deception. i need to play more reptiles i guess, i just really hate his b2 because they seem tolike to do elbow dash after blocking it.
If they are doing elbow dash afterwards then you can block and punish it. Its -18 on block so after you blow him up a couple times for doing that he'll be more cautious and he'll have to try other options.
I have a terrible habit of doing jip after my b2 and good players will catch on to that and start anti-airing me. Even though he's +1 after b2 he doesn't really have any normals that can capitalize on it because of the push back.

if its not elbow dash then its usually the f2 string x-x

alright, ill try some of those options
If you have any decent advancing strings you could try that. Honestly id be more concerned with things like forceballs. Once he gets one on screen your options are limited to blocking it, jumping it or armouring through it and if he makes a read on any one if those he can punish you.

Whats with reptiles force balls changing size depending in his stance? In one stance they're bigger and the other they're smaller. Is the hitbox affected by it or is it just a visual difference?

How do you guys tackle the Mileena matchup? I feel like I'm not building any meter while she has tons of it, once I get in with f21 I don't have the meter to convert and even if I do she has the meter to break... I can't zone her or put up a forceball without getting punished and I get outfootsied by that long ranged staggerable string.

Yeah the loss of a couple frames on ex invis (contrary to popular belief, deceptive was nerfed in the patch, not left alone) and the buff to sai hurt reptile a decent amount. Can no longer ex pounce sai on reaction so he loses the battle from 2/3 screen and f412 ex invis st 12 no longer breaks ex roll. Her pokes are also better so pressuring is harder. It's not horrible but it might be 4-6.

But then again I've only played shitty online mileenas post patch so I could be wrong.

I would say use b3 to low profile her b1 and never forceball in neutral.

I think it could be 3-7, it feels like MK9 again where she can control multiple aspects of the screen against Reptile. At least there is no wonky hitbox shit this time.

Well, not yet....

You could be right, I need to play the matchup more.

Who do you think goes even or better against Mileena? I recall @TheGabStandard saying he hated fighting Liu Kang and that made sense to me but I'm not sure how the patches have changed the matchup. (I would guess it is still at least 5-5, and not a disadvantageous matchup for Liu).

The matchup isn't in Reptile's favor for sure. I tend to go to a counterpick. For Mileena I use shinnok. Vortex her out. Though if I had an opportunity to play a Mileena offline I'd learn how to beat her with Reptile.

I haven't played too many good mileenas since the patch (most of them don't even use b12) but I'll give this a shot.

First off you lose at full screen. There's no point in trying to trade projectiles, acid spit goes over her if she does low sai and you cant get a force ball out to save your life. So your focus has to be on getting in. You can jump the low sai but alot of mileenas like to teleport after doing low sai so try to bait it out and punish. If you're having trouble punishing tele-air sai than you can always do b34. It doesnt matter whether she delays the sai or just does teleport, it will always catch them with the last two hits for 14%. Theres always ex swipe too. You're going to want to punish it every time though to keep them from throwing it out.

If you do manage to get a force ball out than you have to be aware of her options to deal with it. Most people only have 3 options to deal with it; blocking it, jumping it or armouring it but mileena can also roll under it, teleport or get out a couple sais before blocking. You'll need to get a feel for how they react before going in with anything but a couple of those options are punishable. A good player will mix up what they do though so you dont really get the control from force balls that you do in other match ups.

Lastly never forget that mileenas desperately want to hit you with roll. So be ready for those and punish as hard as you possibly can. You cant waste the opportunity and you need her to be reluctant to just throw them out.

This match up feels similar to the gm sub zero match in that you have to play it very patiently and not be too risky. You have to accept that in certain situations they're in control and have to wrestle it back. Every opportunity to get damage must be taken and you have to be very wary of your positioning.

I suppose this all a sign of a bad match up but those are the most fun for me. There's no better feeling than grinding out a match up then overcoming the odds.

How does one fight a Ninjitsu Scorpion with reptile, that matchup seems awful. Played some games vs @YOMI RM JagoBlake in the beta the other night and there was a good time of each match with us just walking back and forth not pressing any buttons. (Blake has the best scorpion hands down.)

Cannot throw a projectile, gets punished everytime. Just wondering if there is something I am missing.
You'll want to use Deceptive against Ninjutsu. Reptile can punish F2 with reversal Elbow Dash. That's really a big deal because it gives you an opportunity to exploit Scorp's biggest weakness, which is getting knocked down. Deceptive is favorable in this MU because of Stealth mixups & the versatility of EX Stealth.

Here are some tips:
- ALWAYS punish F2 w/ reversal Dash!
- Max distance F2 is safe.
- End combos with FB to force situations.
- Don't be afraid to counter poke with EX stealth.
- Don't try to zone with acid spit EVER!

I see, any tips on dealing with b12? At max range there's not much I can do, I tried walking back and whiff punishing with f21 but after doing that she canceled the string into low sai and I got caught by it all the time. Also, is low sai safe? Don't have the game near me or I would test it myself, I remember having a hard time punishing it.

It is not safe, -17 but you do need to be on point on punishing it depending on what you go for.

Personally i think Kung Jin, Alien and Shinnok do well. Potentially Shinnok and Ninjutsu but I need to play those MUs more.

Not sure. Like i said everyone I play doesn't really use it. It sounds like its another range that she controls though so you'd probably want to get in. Feels about even up close. You could try backdashing into pounce to close the gap. Not sure if it would work. Sounds good on paper though.

Yo i dont know how to make post on tym so ill just comment basically unstoppable jason if he hasnt resurrected yet doesnt die by noxious reptile stink gas as long as hes not standing still that means he can move, run, and you can combo reptile into a health combo and keep the match going if somebody wants to make a vid they can

He didn't get assraped by her in 9, though.
By the end of the game's life nearly all Reptile players as well as the best Mileena players, including Sonic fox the gawd, all agreed it was a bad 3-7

You were literally like the only Reptile player to not believe this. Maybe there was like 1 or 2 potatoes that agreed with you but still, he got fucked then and fucked now.

A majority of the Reptile players still weren't doing shit that could have helped the matchup in the first place. I don't even think any of us even got down the one punish on the main option she had that was an issue with the matchup. Of course everyone was going to think it was the 3-7 that it wasn't.
