The "Boo-Hoo! The DLC is Too Expensive" Complaining Thread

True, I kinda feel like paywall-content takes part of the game hostage from me. But sometimes, I just can't sit and let my game be non-definitive. Not that I buy skins on the regular, these CS:GO players...
Yea it sucks, but it's simply a money grab. Characters I understand, they are making them post release which takes time and money. But skins?

I recently started playing NRS games with MK9, but I've literally been a diehard Tekken fan since T1. So after years and years of unlocking over 100 outfits per game for free, my mind can't process paying $5 for a skin pack of 3 outfits.

Im Australian as well, I didn't even know the DLC was $45, I can see how it looks compared to 30USD but ill be paying it anyway because I love MK and can't wait until it finally come out, I love this game so much ill be getting it on PS4 and Steam so I can play a larger player pool. I bet Im not the only one too.

Everyone in Aus gets screwed over when it comes to Gaming, cost, ping, player base, shipping, R18+ Ratings (nearly ruined MK9), release dates,
no tournament scene, getting matched up with SEA... ect

Take your pick. :)

P.S we don't Tip in Aus :p

Just quoting this in case it was missed. Couldn't have said it better.
You could've said the truth. Not a single piece of DLC for MK9/Inj wasn't eventually released for individual sale. All the skins, all the characters. Even the Kombat packs are still available to this day for vanilla MK9/Injustice. It is entirely on you how much you do or don't want to spend.

I don't actually play these games
Skins are essentially filler content. If you think the kp price is inflated because of it just buy the characters you want individually? I mean 30$ to me is a pittance and I'm still probably only getting Predator+1 or 2 of the klassik characters which won't be more than 20$ most likely, if 15$. What's the appeal anyway? You save 5$ if you find out you actually wanted all of the dlc? If not it's not really that pricey to me unless you literally commit now.

I agree 100%. I just don't agree with the practice.

Why are skins combined with the characters?? I don't want any of them. They original "4 character pack for $15" was a good deal. What changed? Skins didn't sell well enough? Combining everything together is a pure money grab.

It should still be optional to pick the character DLC pack from prior games, skin packs, or both combined. Not forcing people to buy everything together or buy everything separately as the only two options.

The base game cost $60 dollars. There's nothing NRS can do about that, don't blame them. You knew what you were getting into.

After the $60 for the base game each character costs FIVE DOLLARS or 15 dollars for the first four.

Riot charges almost 20 bucks for legendary league of legends skins, the destiny expansions were $15 dollars each. The list goes on.

Comparing the ratio of total gameplay earned to money spent we're still doing pretty damn well by giving Boon another $5.

Try to keep things in perspective, there's no mass effect style day 1 DLC, the $5 we pay per character enables NRS to deliver more content. Is another character worth $5 ? You either disagree with that or you are just looking for something to complain about.

Buy no-name brand cereal for a couple weeks, you'll make it, I promise.

You're so gullible. They're ALL finished characters before the game is released; they just release them as DLC to get more profit. Holy shit this site is full of children xD
I don't understand people like you.
Did you join this site only 2 weeks ago to talk shit to people and call them names?
And also call NRS and Ed Boon crooks?

WTF is wrong with you?

I'm sorry to tell you but no... They aren't finished, it takes a long time to make a single character, much less their variations, then balancing them, making sure that no one is broken, I'm sorry but no, not gullible, I am currently studying to be a video game designer, and I can tell you first hand that nether realm is working their asses off to even get the rest of the cast that will be on disk in time, none of the dlc characters are on disk, none of them, shit like this takes time, a lot of time, modeling is time consuming, animating is time consuming, coming up with character move concepts and variation concepts are time consuming, and they need dlc to even break even on the production costs of the game, believe it or not game design isn't a fucking cake walk, it is hell, working over time without getting paid for it, people constantly telling you that you should already be done with the game, none of this is easy or fun, hell I made a fairly small detailed level in unreal 4 for my final, it took me 4 weeks to do, and a character is even more time consuming and difficult to do, so no, not naive

I will just wait until Steam has a nice sale on the pack. I won't pay $30 for 2 guest characters that I don't really care about and 2 characters that I might care about and a bunch of skins.
The Premium Edition on Steam comes with the Kombat Pack included and it's total is $80. So the Pack really only costs $20 right there. If you were really smart with your money, you'd buy the game off Nuuvem and purchase the Kombat Pack separately. That's $60 right there.

The #1 complaint about season passes is that they don't include ALL provided dlc. NRS did it your way last time and tons of people pitched a fit because their all inclusive pass left out $20 worth of planned costume dlc and they felt ripped off by their "all inclusive dlc package". Now they've rolled everything into the pass and bumped the price up accordingly.

The kombat pass is for people who want everything, not some of everything. If you just want characters, buy characters, if you just want skins, buy skins. From the looks of it, you're going to lose 5 bones at worst, which is still a savings on the extra 10 the Kombat pass would cost you.

This is crazy, we should start a thread to see who would pay a subscription for MKX, but you get 1 week early access, all DLC, forever and some sort of other bonuses. Take a vote on that. People love NRS

I preordered the game from GMG 2 months before it was up on Steam. It was before the editions and the DLC pack were announced. I bought it for $45.

My point is that I already have more than enough characters to play and I don't really need to buy more. Maybe Jason and Predator will be really fun to play but I am not really interested in them at the moment.

This pack isn't for me right now, is what I'm trying to say.

The only morality in a cruel world is chance.
That is precisely the case. The digital pre-order of the premium edition (game + kombat pack) on PSN is currently on sale for $80 instead of $90. So it's like you're getting 3 of the 4 dlc characters free at that price!
Shit I might have to do that then!

IIRC in current "vanilla" game we have 25(?) characters for 60 bucks.
Let's say for a costumer one character then costs 2,4$ or so. So how is it "fair" to charge 30$ freakin bucks (half the price of a full game) for only 4 characters? Basically the DLC should cost no more than 10$ in total... 4x2,4=9,6$
So yeah.. few pixels and 4 chars for half of the price of a full game? No thanks.

with that 60 bucks, you're also getting online multiplayer, a full written out story mode, and also each character has 3 different versions of them....i mean you PAID to be a premium supporter on TYM.....w0t
