Is there a dedicated Run Button, or not?

I don't think there's a run button. I don't mind, I'm just happy there's a run at all.

If they were adamant they they had to make it a button pressed during a dash instead of having its own button, they could have at least made it the flip stance button. Block makes no sense
Flip Stance is just two other buttons not an input of its own. Block is a different input.

I think whats going to happen is people are going to dash a lot less.
True. Which is fine. I walked as much or more in MK9. I'm thinking running will be how you achieve that dash-into-bait effect I'm talking about. Really gonna depend on what run recovery feels like.

Think I'll just walk from now on... I have a feeling dashing will lead to me running right into a huge punish lol

Or play reptile and use his elbow dash in place of dashing haha

Hey I don't know if someone mentioned this. But do u think there is a possibility that the fight stick purportedly being revealed today WILL have a dedicated run button??? Could be kinda swag
There's going to be an official MKX fightstick? Cool, hopefully they don't use shit parts like they did with MK9.

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

When you dash and then push block to run, can you cancel the dash at its earliest frames into a run, or does the character start running as a continuation of the end of the dash?

You can cancel a run with Block, so pretty safe.
You have to hold block to run, you don't have to hold forward. The only cancel would be letting it go. You can however cancel it into anything else. Normals, specials, you name it. No word on how cancelling run into EX moves works though.

The tournament edition stick was made with original Happ parts, but the problem is that the "original" Happ parts are now made by IL. After the release of the TE stick, @Dark_Rob and myself contacted PDP and showed them that they could improve the sticks by using the IL parts and true cherry switches. If I remember correctly, the MK Klassic stick released with MKAK uses IL parts with true cherry switches, which is why it's the preferred stick.

I just hope that if they are announcing a stick that it matches the original MK layout and not the widened layout used for the TE/Klassic stick. Both of those sticks had the stick too far away from the buttons.

You can run immediately. You see them in the videos go right into run with no dash animation in some combos.

Get on that hook
Reason they made run the block was to prevent dash blocking. Having a run button won't accomplish this. But I guess they can just make the dash non-cancellable but that would ruin the flow of the dashing-to-run animation

You don't have to dash at all, the second you press block you run. Whoever plays Cassie in their promos constantly does her flipkick into run to continue the combo and there's no dash, just full clip right off the rip. Heres one (00:25);

They could have made the dash non-block cancelable, but use a run button that allows dash to run cancels. That would have allowed specials and run to be canceled from dash, but prevented dash blocking.

Wow all this time I didn't notice that.

So if you're quick enough you can input it to where there's no dash at all, and during/after combos you probably can input it and hold block to wait to start running while the last moves animation is still going on.

I feel much better about it being done like that.

So you can cancel a run into a special?
Swore they said it couldn't be cancelled and you would be dedicated to it.
Or was that dash they were talking about

UMK3 is my religion and the control scheme for it is in my opinion, perfect. I'll give it a try but I doubt MKX will be more than a few weeks of visual awe.
prob with umk3 IS the run button mechanic, I want run in order to close up on pussies who back up, but if you can alternate between run block and jab/throw it eliminates what I love about mortal kombat, the poking/string game is useless. This is why I prefer mk trilogy over umk3

dash is ONLY cancellable into run, and only the forward dash. Run is cancellable into anything. Important thing to notice is the second you run you burn stamina so punishing / interupting a run is all unbreakable damage.

Maybe there are multiple ways to execute run. Example, grabs are naturally two simultaneous button presses but can be mapped to one button as well
