Quick thoughts about 5 reveals:
I would love to have a 100% confirmation that only 5 characters seen in this video will be playable (not including dlc). This needs to be konfirmed, because it's entirely possible that some of the 'non confirmed' people we see will be 'hidden' and unlockable, thus not 'confirmed'. Also DLC.
The 3 kids are definitely in, we got gameplay footage.
The only other real kontenders here are:
Mileena
Erron Black
Rain
Shinnok
One by one:
-Mileena is 95% playable. It's possible she's the big bad, and also possible that she is unlockable (which for the time being I'm assuming means not 'confirmed 5') I lean heavily towards confirmed.
-Erron Black - So I have a theory here, I need to examine the frames of him again, but to me his character model doesn't seem as robust as the other 'confirmed' characters. Which makes me think he MIGHT not be confirmed. HOWEVER. There'd be a really good reason for him not to be in the initial roster. Are you ready for this? DLC. Dude would sell like hotcakes as dlc, with all the setup they'e done in the comic, as well as having him seem to be jobbing around story mode. Though the Kombat Pass, or whatever it's called, contains 'classic' characters, it'd make sense for him to be be OFF that pre-order bonus, get more people to pay full price for him later. However, he's also a highly likely candidate for confirmed. This is where it gets tricky to me.
-Rain: We have some issues here as well. NRS already confirmed that there will be no repeat DLC characters.. which means that if he's not confirmed, and also not unlockable/hidden, then he's never going to be playable in MKX.
I'd like to think that showing him off as the ONLY MC who is on Mileena's side in the story trailer gives him higher marks. His outfit is new, though it is highly reminiscent of MKA. He seems, in my mind, more detailed then Erron Black too. So I'm putting the biggest ? on him. Could be confirmed 5, could be Unlockable/hidden.. but he will definitely NOT be dlc.
Shinnok - Possible Big Bad (unplayable), possible big bad (unlockable/hidden), possible confirmed? Possibly DLC too. Shinnok easily fits into any category of what we need for him to be playable somehow, thus I feel like he's another wild card, but more likely to be playable in some form. I put my money on hidden/unlockable than anything, but DLC also wouldn't surprise me.
And that's where we're at. I'd love to be able to interview @lover_of_tacos about this, if anyone thinks they can get a straight answer from him: by all means. We know Boon won't say anything, and he recently stated that it's his job to clarify things.
I'd basically like all 4 of these unknowns to be playable in some way, even if DLC. I'd be okay with shinnok being non-playable boss as long as he can potentially be in MK11 playable.
Edit Note: I have a huge suspicion that Sonya and Johnny will be the DLC characters in the combat Pass. Have felt that for awhile now and this trailer makes that feel more solid then ever.
