General/Other - Sub-Zero Sub-Zero: Who is that masked man? (And who is the Unmasked man?)

I'm now officially confused about Sub Zero. We were always told that Bi-Han and Kuai Liang are brothers, and we ALWAYS assumed that "MK3" Sub Zero was Kuai Liang. Looking back at the artwork for MK9, I notice that MK9 Sub(Kuai) DOES NOT have a scar. (The alt dlc skin has it) Is it possible that MK9 SZ is NOT the same SZ from "MK3"?



Is it possible that in this new timeline that Bi and Kuai are NOT the same Sub Zeros as the one from "MK3" and that this "MK3" Sub with the scar is an entirely different character?

Here is MKX Grand Master SZ, I've enlarged his face to show that he also has no scar.


Clearly no scar visible.


Now, here is the SubZero we see in the MKX Story mode trailer, hair, beard and very clear, distinct scar like the "MK3" SubZero.



So, WHO IS THAT MASKED MAN?

Just as important, WHO IS THAT UNMASKED MAN?

Noob (Bi Han). Gotta be.
Especially when you compare their voices.

Also the "my soul is freed" thingy...

I'm like 95% positive it's Bi Han. I'd be hella surprised if it wasn't.

The masked version could be before he gets the scar. Was hoping for Bi but seems like kuai

The masked one very well could be, but then who is the unmasked one? Kuai is dead...or is he resurrected? If resurrected, would he be Human again and why not a robot?

I'm starting to think the unmasked one has NEVER been Kuai.

The unmasked guy is Kuai. Can't possibly mistake that scar, can we?

They do mention that the storyline is happening throughout 25 years. Perhaps it's the same character in 2 different time periods? lol. Or it could be his alternate costume.

I'm starting to think both are back, except Bi-Han is the one getting the poster boy treatment this time around.

I think bi Han is the masked subzero since scorpion refers to him as a murderer and he responds with "I tire of maintaining my innocence."

And the unmasked is kuai. Since it looks like he got rid of the cyber initiative that was happening in the Lin kuei. Bi Han always seemed more loyal to the clan than younger subzero. Kuai turned it into a force of good.

In the beginning, he's talking to (what I believe is) 25 year Cassie.

Since the comic takes place at around around the 15 year mark, it's very likely that both are the same Sub-Zero. One is Kawaii before the big timeskip, and the other is him after. I don't think it's very confusing. That being said, I've always been more of a Bi-Han fan, so I hope he makes a comeback in some fashion.

Preeeetty sure unmasked is Kuai and masked is Bi-Han. They even have different voices. Also, so far from what we've seen, behavior wise it fits too. Umasked Sub talks and behaves a lot like Kuai and masked Sub like Bi-Han.

Well if scorpion can be human again then why can't subzero be human again?

Bi-Han hasn't been Sub Zero in Mk storyline for a long time so i don't know why people overthink this so much. It's Kuai Liang, the unmasked version just sealed it.

Also it's the same voice actor for all the costumes.

I agree, I just think that if Kuai was resurrected then we'd see him in the last state we saw him in, a robot.

Also, we have NO clue what actually happened to Noob. Was he ripped apart by the soulnado? Was he just flung somewhere and is still alive and well as Noob? Did he die? Was he resurrected as Bi-Han again?

I'm just very interested in all of this now... that's the only reason I'm speculating.

well I hope unmasked sub is indeed Kuai. Out of all the mortal kombat characters he's the only one that actually had any type of real character development. Look at his journey from MK2 all the way up to MK9.

there are both. the unmasked sub is kuai and bi han is the old ghoulish looking sub from the announcement trailer.

Plot twist: Sub-Zero is Hanzo Hasashi.

Well, we still haven't seen the Netherrealm War, but given the comics its pretty clear Kuai is one of the characters who escapes and goes to work for Raiden.. . . then gets stabbed in the face by Kano.

Also, we have NO clue what actually happened to Noob. Was he ripped apart by the soulnado? Was he just flung somewhere and is still alive and well as Noob? Did he die? Was he resurrected as Bi-Han again?

I'm going to say the Soulnado did it. That said, I do kind of hope Quan Chi created a new Noob cause I don't want the character to go away.

Now that we've seen the scar, we know there's two and that means Scar Sub is Kuai, always has been. The one we've been seen up until now is defintely Bi.
