Trying to get the most out of my motherboard

But I didn't want to dash
I currently have a Gigabyte 78LMT-S2 Mobo with an AMD FX 4100 processor and a Radeon HD 6670 video card. I have 8 gigs of ram and a 600 watt corsair psu.

I really don't know a lot when it comes to PC's. I just recently changed my power supply and it got me wanting to upgrade my video card. After doing some research I found that my video card options are kind of limited with the processor I have. If I get something too high end it will be a waste. I started to do some research on processors too but I found that my mobo leaves me limited options with them as well.

To make a long story short, I don't want to change my mobo at the moment and I'm looking to get the best possible processor and video card combo compatible with my mobo without overclocking or anything like that.

If there's any other information I need to give just let me know. Thanks.

Just get a console. Cheaper and you don't have to worry about all this nonsense except maybe a larger hard drive.

Lol come on dude... I have consoles, just loking to upgrade my PC.

I'll just add that the upside to a pc is I don't have to keep buying new and expensive peripherals like arcade sticks every few years.

Just ask on Tom's Hardware. This place ain't the best place to ask about PC stuff. Just look at that first response.

Not to say nobody here is qualified to answer you. It's just that there are legit experts over there.

Why are your options limited with that processor?

How much are you looking to spend? A top of the line video card from one or two years ago could be had for a good price and compete with more expensive, new, mid-level cards.

I have an fx 4320 8 core, 3.5 ghz, and a Radeon hd 7770. It does pretty well.

You can go to http://pcpartpicker.com and select your motherboard. It will then show you ever compatible component, along with ratings and retailers (newegg is my favorite). I'm typing on my phone, but tomorrow when I'm at my computer I can look up your mb and give you some advice.

Also, when it comes to pure performance, I recommend picking up an ssd. You can get a 256g ssd for less than $150 and the speed boost is insane. Instant file transfers, <10-second boot times, etc.

Saving yours for future PC buying (6 months or so).

Yeah but I play pad.

So...

I'm more than likely getting a PC soon anyways, but I'm building my own and not spending more than 700 for it lol

If you get something relatively new you should not have much to worry about in terms of bottlenecking between cpu and gpu. I would recomend getting a decent bundle AMD cpu+mobo though and can be found pretty cheap. One thing I would stress is making sure everything fits in your case the R9 series are pretty good size. Also make sure your PSU has the right 6/8 pin connections for your gpu that you get.

I wouldn't worry about your CPU and video card being an issue. Even if it were to not perform 100% (which I doubt) at some point you will get a new MB/CPU and you can just keep the video card you bought.
