Reptile Optimal Combo

I see so many reptile players dropping his BNB NJP combo, I thought this combo is much better and although it takes a bar of meter, I think it is preferable to dropping the combo.

321 - Elbow Dash - D4 + (EX)Acid Ball - 32 Acid Ball - 321 Setup/Ender

I guess the difficult part about this combo would be the D4 EX acid ball, but it is really not that hard; I hit it pretty much every time. It also does 1% more than his NJP combo.

Just thought I'd put this out there; I don't use reptile much myself, but I do like to mess around with all the characters and this seems like the best bnb combo for me, especially online.

One bar for an extra 1% because the inputs are slightly difficult? Lol no...
Try consistently hitting his bnb online with all the different amounts of lag, good luck. Reptile isn't too meter dependant anyways, I'd rather do this and hit it 95% of the time than drop his other BNB 40% of the time.

Spammer. Crouch walk hater.
His BnB always worked for me even in lag by holding up after inputing dash and sliding my fingers on 2->1 as fast as I can, since that apparently gets the njp out as fast as possible.
But I guess everyone did that anyway so....

Yeah man, reptile is so dependent on using meter for ex forceballs using it in a combo is a huge waste. If you have trouble doing his elbow dash njp combo then you really need to work on it a lot more because 321 is his primary string. You NEED to be able to do the njp combo or you just can't play the character effectively IMO.

Nah, you can hit the meterless one with some consistent practice.

It's one of the more difficult meterless bnbs but once you get that timing you should start finding some consistency.

Of course the consistency is going to change depending on online connections, but that doesn't mean that your new combo is optimal.

Not trying to be a dick.

sorry for potential double post...

I disagree. I think reptile is very meter dependent if you want to keep the pressure on the opponent. I use probably to much meter lol but ex forceballs are key to my gameplay style.

I guess is meter dependency is also dependent on that persons play style...I personally prefer this combo because I hit it very consistently and it takes place of the NJP combo which I drop online all the time. I had thought people would share similar views but I guess not.

You aren't the first guy to sacrifice some meter or damage to land combos more consistently. I've watched respected players do it quite a bit. Go ahead and use the new one if it's working for you but I would advise you to keep practicing the meterless one on the side so that you can eventually hit it without fail and save yourself some meter. (You'll need the meter for when cyrax or smoke land any fucking hit whatsoever)

It's not hard it just takes practice, and Reptile is VERY meter dependant. Save as much as you can man.

No I completely understand where you are coming from. The important thing is to practice the combo and remember your timing, not the visual cues online. Once you have the muscle memory for when to do the njp while ignoring what you are seeing it makes it easier.

If the input itself gives you trouble, that's one thing. If you're compensating for online, that's another.

If the connection is so bad that you can't do a BnB, I can't imagine it's worth playing at all. If you're on Xbox, don't play anything but 3-bar opponents. Half of those will be playable. The other 90% you can avoid.

If you're on PS3, it's a crap shoot. You don't get to be picky.

I found this a few years ago with meterless fast forceball. If you have to burn a bar and don't watch a NJP in the combo you can do 321 dash 2 EX FB - the timing is ridiculously easier and the combo does more damage.

If you want to burn a bar solely for damage do 32 EX FFB NJP 32 SFB 321 slide for 40 damage. Never end a combo with slide unless to kill opponent generally. The reset is probably his best ender unless you don't want to be close (Sonya etc)
