Hi, I'm a casual player that enjoyed playing fightning game time ago like sf2turbo, mk2, umk3 and recently mk9 and injustice, but never went in depth, so I can easily say I'm new with the fightning games.
After seeing kumite in tennessee (that cossner's top16 reptile , that top8 flash, lol) and with the upcoming mkx, I really want to learn how to play properly, but even if it's hard, I want at least understand why people say a character is better than another one, or simply what players are talking about
Atm I have the notions related to frames, playstyle, but don't completely understand when plp talk about vortex or 50/50.
I tried to figure out what vortex means, I found that someone means mixups, others the specific situation after a knockdown and you can go with mixup. I'm confused.
For 50/50, I assume that after a move that leaves your opponents neutral (you're attacking), you can go low, high leaving the opponent assuming to block something wrong.
I'm usually charmed by underdog or understimated characters
