Juicy: Which players are carried or held back by their main?

Right off the bat, held back: 16 bit.

It's really the combos....Catwoman is one of the only few characters whose strings are long enough that you can hit confirm every time. Unless you're doing 2d2, you can see it hit at the very start and go for your highest combos from there. You sacrifice legit anywhere from 5-20% or so in every one of your combos that still land you the same exact setups at the end of the day, making you work twice as hard to make up for the life lead. And I'm not even talking about the double f3 whiffs. It's little things like replacing ji1 with ji3, or hit confirming cat claws as oppose to cat dash, or doing a f3 whiff into a background bounce after, that will change damage big time. If you can't tell how much damage your character will do, especially for the kill, idk what's up

Interesting that the top 3 on the list is the real top 3 character wise.

Unseeable 50/50 mix up game.

Meter building without using meter ( which you don't need to) is scary.

The best d2 in the game.

Played by players that actually good at the game that traines really hard and put more effort then other people can be something to be reckon with when it comes to these specific characters.

Other people that plays these characters and don't have success with them is because you dont put in time and work to achieve the same result as they do.

i really dont think any of these people are carried by their characters. a good number of them ive seen do well with characters that arent top tier. all the people on this list that are held back are only held back by apathy towards the game

Chris G was the first person that came up in my head. Then 16 Bit in regards of being held back by their character.

However I do think Catwoman has been downplayed in the past.

I don't really think that hard countering necessarily suggests he is being carried. Sure he goes into most of ( if not all ) his match ups with the advantage. But at the same time, he has to actually be able to use these characters at a high enough level. His better characters are not just pocket characters. He has to have his suite of characters up to par with what some people are only putting into one character. I'd say if anything that this could potentially hold him back. He is spreading himself out a lot. Which requires more time with each character he wants to bring to a tournament.

Yes batgirl is an insanely good character, no I don't think she's the best (not with AM and MMH in the game).



Also, I'd point out that sonic fox used Sonya in MK9 and was still formidable (placing high in 2014 EVO iirc).

Come on Pan1c, as a Batgirl main yourself surely you see that the argument of "what other BG mains are placing?" is kind of bad considering other BG mains like you or I aren't even in America. That's one of the reasons he's the only placing Batgirl. Another one is the fact that not all Batgirl mains, even including the American ones, can afford to travel to tournaments. And of course another is that he has good fundamentals as proven by his results in other games.

And yes he won the MK9 side tourney at EVO with Sonya, another character considered to be a braindead 50/50 character, if not more braindead and actually safer.

It's funny that you should bring up Chris G because he actually had a shitty alt Batgirl that didn't help lol.

This logic makes no sense. When people say that you've counter picked to get the advantage of the match up, the match up numbers only apply when both characters are being played at the highest level. So if you're saying that every time king counter picks and the match up becomes his favour, you're saying he plays every character at the highest level, which is certainly not the same as being carried by a character.

Question to all you guys that say Chris Get and Rico. How can you determine whether or not if it is their character when they don't practice the game. I mean if Cossner is capable of doing well with Green Arrow, why wouldn't Chris G if he would actually try and learn his character. Same with Rico if he actually kept up with Black Adam and his tech and stuff no one really knows how well he would do. So far it looks like these guys hold themselves back in this game.

Arma is being held back by bats.

No one is carried by their mains. Everyone earned what they have now.

I don't know if anyone is being held back by their character.

I learned that with Jade. I chose to use her, chose to stick with her.

Jade didn't hold me back, I did.

We all can switch characters whenever we want.

I could not agree more. I would say it is 70% player and 30% character.

A top tier player maining a shitter will railroad a medicore player maining a top tier character...

I'm pretty sure you, sir, are the embodiment of this theory. #SheevaFTW
