Chromecast - a treatise on elegance

Chromecast is dope. It's one of those products that comes along occasionally which exceeds your expectations in surprising ways.

I'm sure I'm late to the party on this one, but if you don't have one yet, do yourself a solid and get one. In Canada, BestBuy/Futureshop has them on sale for $29 during Boxing week.

It does the following things really well:

- plays YouTube flawlessly on anything with a HDMI input from anything with a wifi connection. In my case, my iPhone 6 plus to my 55" 1080p TV. You can queue up multiple videos and lock your phone in your pocket. It's fucking seamless.

- plays Twitch.tv streams perfectly. Use your phone/tablet/laptop to chat, use your tv to watch the stream. Brilliant.

- plays nice with Netflix, Vevo and Crunchy Roll.

I know there's a bunch of services that are not available (yet) in Canada, that you can access in the US (Hulu, HBO Go, etc). But still, it's amazing just to stream your YouTube and twitch feeds to your tv from your phone. It deletes the paradigm of your "tv" or your "computer" or your "phone" by connecting your devices in a a seamless signal path from input (anything with a connection to your local wifi network) to output (anything with a HDMI input).

When your not using it actively, it plays a slide show of your Google+ pictures with local weather info. It does all of this without trying to sell you anything and the setup is easier than a GL bnb. It's so user friendly and elegant, you'd swear it was an apple product if you didn't know better.

tldr; chromecast is the tits.

Is the wireless 2.4ghz or 5, or both? This thing being wireless is likely a deal breaker for me given the number of 2.4ghz networks in range. my roku could barely play without buffering until I hardwired it.
