No Platform-Exclusive Characters Planned for Mortal Kombat X

Yes, you've read the title correctly. Unlike with Mortal Kombat 9 where Kratos was accessible only to those with a Playstation 3, NRS executive producer Shaun Himmerick informs Hardcore Gamer that console-exclusive fighters are not planned for Mortal Kombat X. This undoubtedly contradicts reports that may have surfaced across the Internet, but if somebody from the NRS team is outright saying that it's not in the plans, you can bet that it's the god-honest truth.

"We have no platform-exclusive characters planned for Mortal Kombat X," Himmerick says to Hardcore Gamer, who are reaching out to Netherrealm Studios for further comment.

These do not mean the same thing. Saying they have no plans for console exclusive characters does not mean there won't be console exclusive characters.

Yeah I saw this on Facebook. Hopefully this is the case and we just get guest characters that are available on both consoles and PC. That way we can make them tournament eligible.

Given he said in another interview that they are submitting it for ratings and certification shortly, its a safe bet that there won't be any. They aren't going to dream up, sign contracts, and create a character from scratch that fast.

I'm sure if Sony had secured a character, they would've made mention of it at PSX, like they did with SF5.

Good. Nothing worse than a character being out that you know you wouldn't be allowed to play in a tournament anyway due to their limited exclusivity...

...We already have Goro for that...

Fujin and Ermac for MK 11
Good, lol elsewhere the Sony fans are having a fit with certain threads. I'm glad they're not doing this this way nobody can brag "haha we got this guy" and everyone gets the same thing, now only thing will be A which console plays the game better, handles it etc and B. which console plays better online. That is all that matters.

I also think the fact that SF5 is only on two console aside from it being dumb, helps MK X's chances tremendously of being the top fighter of next few years honestly. I will bet anything right now, MK X will sell more bigtime.

Call me simple, but what's the difference between platform and console?
Ocassionally, the term "platform" is used to distinguish between PC and Console. Consoles are one type of platform, and computer games are another.

Riiiiiight. Like the time Ed Boon said "Injustice is a strictly DC game, not MK vs DC 2. No MK characters will be crossing over."

xenogorgeous

.... they mostly come at night. Mostly.
pretty nice if in fact end to be true .... so this time, no banned characters anyway in majors tourneys ......

anyway, I will only believe once the game come out and after some time .... because they can say this now until the game release, and change their mind .... think about DLC possibilities and you can see.

So we may still see khrome or kabuki jo then? @colt

I'm actually kinda surprised the PS4 isn't getting an exclusive character seeing as how much of a hard-on NRS seem to have for it :DOGE
