Street Fighter V teaser

I'm bummed that Adon, my favorite Street Fighter character, has pretty much no chance in hell to be in this game. Character's looks haven't changed much, but that's probably because their looks are pretty iconic. Guys remember it's still super early, and they will probably going to have sweet alternative costumes. What i'm really excited about are the new mechanics and gameplay. Is parry/focus attack/custom combos back? I hope they show more than this trailer at Capcom cup, but for some reason I have a feeling they won't. :(

Actually the near identical looks of characters gives you a better chance than a complete tear down and a new engine. If they can reuse assets from SFIV and just clean them up there's a much higher chance of returns vs new.

Yeah RIP Xbox One, because Street Fighter has been a system seller for years now, right?.... right?
While obviously not a major issue for console sales, this could effect future fighting games release on the xbone. Things that are already announced will still be cross platform, but as SF is basically one of, if not the, largest playerbase, and now it's PS4 only, fighting devs are going to think long and hard about even bothering with a Xbone release, especially if SFV does well, which it will.

Other than that, not much to say. Air combo's seem like a slightly bigger deal? EX tatsu doesn't turn you yellow anymore(or maybe there's a new system for alternate specials)? The commercial itself is interesting in that it seems to be geared toward grabbing the non fighter market(since they know they'll get the normal markets attention by virtue of existing) and it might actually work?

A prop on the stage of life.
If they have to finally make a new iteration of the game then they probably have a new mechanic or two that will be introduced. I think the most interesting thing about the SF series is that the characters retain a lot of the normals and specials and work with different mechanics in place.

The reason why I don't believe in seeing Adon in SF5 because he barely made it to SF4: http://www.gamesradar.com/adon-edged-out-rolento-in-super-street-fighter-iv/
They chose Adon just barely over Rolento, which is something they probably wouldn't do again.

In Street Fighter character popularity poll that Capcom did back in 2013 Adon was in bottom 10 least popular characters in SF4: http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/mar/29/results-capcoms-street-fighter-favorite-characters-popularity-poll/
He isn't really that important character so I doubt he comes back again. Well they probably give me Sagat so I'm cool :p

SF being ps4 only (For now) won't change anything in terms of fighting game releases on xbox since it will still most likely get all the fighters from the large publishers. If you're talking niche anime fighters then those were already being released only on sony consoles.

which is why mkx has a VERY VERY short leash.
You know Pecka, I just think that you hate making reads, man. I feel like you want to mash out your fastest poke and go right into pressure for whatever game you play.

Even knocking someone down and deciding whether or not to pressure them is a read. Deciding whether or not someone will wake-up attack is a guess, in all fighting games.

I don't know, man. I'm not trying to be aggressive or anything, but you place this huge dark cloud over a fundamental such as making reads for some reason.

Are you not confident in your decision making or something?

Not really, minor issues usually can be overcome with little knowledge.
Yeah, but why worry when I can just pop in a game (in next gen case, let it install), then go from there? And never have to worry about things like that?

Yeah, it seems like little knowledge, but that's one of the things that turns off people from PC. They don't wanna have to do that just to get a game working on top of having to purchase pretty expensive PCs just to ensure that they don't have any extra issues from that, such as being forced to lower quality.

But, this is a discussion for another topic lol.

Keep in mind how poorly XB1 has done in Asia as a whole, Capcom have always sold more copies in Japan than anywhere else, so that would explain this particular situation.

But let's not delude ourselves, SF4 may have the biggest competitive scene, but it's far from the most played fighting franchise, MK9 outsold SF4 as a whole long ago, and the competetive crowd is seen as roughly 10% of a games overall playerbase, and that's people that know of and follow the scene, not people that actively compete.

This may be the final nail in the XB1 coffin for Asia, but far from the case here in the west.

It's not specifically making reads. It's making a guess to get out of a mixup that just resets if you continue to guess wrong, with basically no way out outside of just blocking.

Which I'm pretty sure is what Pecka has an issue with.

Is Killer Instinct like that?

I cant see the trailer so I just search on youtube, lol exclusive to PC and PS4? Muhahahahahahaha! well good, since Killer Instinct which Is one of my favorite fighters of all and Microsoft being dicks making it Xbox only exclusive, then its only fair that Xbox users gets the same treatment as PS users that want to playKI on PS4.

No, but Pecka's comment in that particular situation was referring to what I was talk about.

Killer Instinct's default issue, to me and others, is that there's no guaranteed reward for getting a combo started. The game's combos are centered around a guessing game. There's things that limit the victim's guessing chances, such as one-chance breaks, counterbreaker setups, and whatnot, but that still leaves an opportunity where combos can be broken at any time. Which is likely what Pecka has an issue with with Killer Instinct and is relatable, since I'm also in the same boat despite enjoying to watch it. I probably wouldn't play it for a lengthy time just because I'd get annoyed with that.

Considering the fact that PE is a Western event, it actually makes sense, though.

How many areas have access to actually viable arcades? Not many.
lol, okay. They put together a presentation for a show called PLAYSTATION EXPERIENCE and then tailored just that part to their 2nd place market.

I know Microsoft owns rare NOW. But it still feels weird as an exclusive.

Ultimately it doesn't matter which one has more exclusive credibility. The game population always suffers when you limit the systems it's available on. And as competitive players, you typically want the largest pool of players to draw experience from.
That is always true, but that is besides the point. Regardless if KI being exclusive "feels weird" to you, it isn't weird; it just a fact because MS owns the IP. It would be "weird" if SF5 is exclusive though as Sony doesn't own Capcom.

Tell me though, (hypothetical) if Nintendo still owned KI and it came out only on the Wii U, would that "feel weird"? What about the fact that SSB is exclusive to Nintendo consoles, is that weird? Of course it isn't. It's just how it is.

Umm, did you see the location, as well as the main games being presented...?

It is a Western event. It may include some things from eastern companies, but mostly things that the Americas already know about, like Capcom.

It's like how Tokyo Game Show showcases mainly Japanese games. The games at TGS that weren't Japanese were basically just EA and Microsoft.

No offense but fuck you if you think graphically and stylistically this:

Looks the same as this:

SFV Ryu favors an action figure while SFIV favors some kind of clay/ink hybrid.

Th texturing, muscle definition, clothes, hair, and facial features are all different.
Sorry, but they look the same to me. One is just visually cleaner, and the lighting is different. Of course they aren't the same though as the SF5 models are far more detailed, but that is besides the point really. It just looks like a slight visual upgrade.

I hope when the game is released in the years to come that the look evolves a bit more.

interesting, essentially from what im gathering from this teaser and likely the advertisements for this going forward is going to be about convincing casuals that they can compete in tournaments. a nice message but im wondering if they are going to try and raise of the casuals or bring the game down to them like Tekken seems to be doing.

I'd get a PC to play it, but apparently a requirement of having a PC is I need to go to every internet forum and make every post about how having it is so much better.

Basically I'd have to be a hybrid car owner from the early 2000's.

No and No.

KI being an XBOX exclusive after playing it as a nintendo exclusive during my childhood is the WHOLE REASON why it IS "weird".
Smash being a Nintendo exclusive makes more sense because it's full of those exclusive characters. Seeing Pac Man or Sonic in the game DOES feel weird because they weren't previously featured in Nintendo exclusive titles.

That's the only thing I was saying.
