I have returned!
The rest of the FGC may be hype for Smash Wii U but for the Chicago NRS scene the focus remains on Injustice as we begin the 6th and final full season of GBS until MKX is released in April.
Eyes were on Naptown Clutch's champion Saucy Jack but after a barn burner of a match between Jeremiah the Jew of Steel lost last weekend's grand finals runback against my Catwoman before being eliminated by N1k0lass' Ares. The previous GBS had seen Ken snipe N1k0lass with a surprise Green Arrow counterpick but this week he decided to stick to his Kryptonian guns and stay with Clark. Surviving an early 2-0 deficit he managed to adjust and tie it up but ultimately fell to the god of broke. Retreating to the Fortress of Saltitude the Jew of Steel no doubt found comfort in Dragon Age Inquisition later that night.
Grawlix was still on break from work and stopped by for one final GBS before he has to return to his regular schedule. Determined to pick up at least one more scalp he battled my Catwoman in his first match. It didn't end well for Diana but he cleaned up in the losers bracket, eliminating Jeremiah and winning an exciting 3-2 set against Jim's Flash to put a cap on their rivarly for now. In losers semi finals Grawlix had to fight N1k0lass again, who he had always been unable to defeat the past few weeks. The sniping was in full force with both players trying to steal wins with counter picks. In the end his greek curse continued and he was sent back to the work force by the master sniper himself.
Meanwhile the winners finals was the now standard GBS matchup of Bane vs. Catwoman. The purring perpetrator started off strong with two surprisingly decisive wins against the venomed brawler. Max felt the spirit of sniping and decided to bench Bane in favor of a shocking counter pick...Black Adam. He has returned! With HAN in retirment the last time we had seen Teth was Truth's bill Adam many months ago. Max played respectfully and even won a match but lost the set and moved onto losers finals against N1k0lass. Having fun with Adam he decided to stick with him against Ares. He was able to defeat the god of bills but could not handle the overwhelming pressure of DUMBSDAY. N1k0lass headshots another victim.
For the second time in recent memory the grand finals would pit me and N1k0lass against each other. He started off trying Ares and although the games were close I had a 2-0 lead against him. Going for one last attempt at a snipe he switched to Sinestro, a matchup he had yet to try against the feline fatale. This gave him one game but it wasn't enough to win the reset. Selina has won her 19th GBS and started off the 6th season with a MEOW.
Due to Thanksgiving next week's GBS will be on Tuesday, November 25th!
