Band DRAMA

So I'm just posting here to rant, and maybe other musicians want to vent their stories.

I'm been working on a project (one of my songs is in the excellent Consider The Following podcast), and it took me 5 years to do it. Now I have a live band to play my songs in concert.

TONIGHT is my CD Release show downtown. We've been promoting it like crazy. And the guys I hired to learn my music have been practicing with me since the summer. They've become friends and I'm having the time of my life.

But my lead guitarist is a huge drama queen, and certainly bi-polar. Every time we play a show (we've had two, and 2 club auditions) he throws a fit about something and starts calling the club's equipment a piece of shit or complaining about something. And last night, at the club sound check (they built a custom stage for us with elevator lifts and lighting effects!) he got mad about something and just walked out. He refused to say why he was mad, and just said he'd be at the show tonight at 5 for soundcheck.

I have no idea if he's actually going to be there, so I'm spending hours making alternative sequence tracks mixing in my album recorded lead guitar parts with the synthesizer tracks, so our songs don't sound naked without him. It's a huge pain in the ass, and I'm nervous as hell going into tonight.

Anyways that's my story.

Musician s are pretty difficult to work with for the most part.
not true! the other guys are a total pleasure. It's this guy. However, he's the guy that can play all the solos and all the shit so I need him. There's a huge lack of prospects in this city. It's all metal.

Ive always found that most musicians are very disorganized, making it hard to even get together and jam. A lot of musicians I have played with have been late to gigs too.

Id say a majority are hard to work with, even if they are nice people.

Edit: I wasnt playing in the gigs mentioned, I just went there to see my friends and they were late.

Sounds like the dudes a tool. It's hard to find a group of guys that mesh well and do their part. But as a former lead guitarist, I was pretty picky about my stage setups too so I get that part.

Damn. That's pretty ridiculous. Tell him to stop being a drama queen. Lol I would fill in for you if you were anywhere near me. :)
