Is UMK3 (Arcade) and UMK3 (NON-ARCADE Like: Ps3, Xbox360 etc..) the same?

Guys recently i was playing UMK3 with Hanzo and others friends, and a question surge when we was fighting...

Ok Guys: I see that UMK3 for Ps3, Xbox, Emulated, and many others are more slow than the arcade version, i don´t know exactly how to describe i just can see it, the game is slow compared to the arcade version i mean we´re playing in the xbox 360 version (mk kollection) and i can feel that the game is not the same as the arcade is, i want to know if it´s just me, cause hanzo everyday tell me that the game is just the same as the arcade is and i fucking know is not..!... Im a MKT player as well and i know the difference of any game but the hanzo´s arcade of UMK3 is broken and we got to play on any version.. so we choose to play it on console (xbox) but come on! MKT N64 is the same version since the game was made! and we nver played it emulated.. so i see MKT just good, but UMK3 in XBOX is not the same.. can anybody tell me how you see the game? maybe Shock? did you played both games? Lex? damm it i need to know this! btw sorry about my eng is always sucks xD

Storms! you´re alive my friend! hahaha long time no read you my friend.. how you doing?.. thanks for tag those guys i´ve sent the link to shock on facebook but what´s the facebook of juggs? (and you my friend) :) take care.. mike: boths are the same just in visual but the slow game, sometimes the game freeze a little or something i don´t know what is it exactly but is just not the same when you play it carefully

I have the Arcade kollection on PS3 as well as all 3 arcade games emulated through mame on the ps3. Their is a slight difference, but not much. If i were to play the game on my ps3, i'd probably play the emulated version through mame , mainly because i can play the hacked versions through mame.

im a MKT and UMK3 player i tought it was me by just playing MKT al this days and forget the gameplay of UMK3 but is not.. Humberto, Victor and i think UMK3 for PS3 is just slow compared to UMk3 Arcade you guys are just give the same opinion i got.! Tony-T PS3 and PC i think is almost the same.. (I Think) but you guys want to know something weird? well: UMk3 for NDS is the version who is close to the Arcade Version, but you got to play on a Internet Conection and not NDS To NDS i mean: If you are face to face to your oponent (fisic) and matching... just to say: Smoke Vs Sonya and you´re connected via NDS (by Loading the game with one or two cartbridge) the game is not the same when you boths play on a WIFI Conection beleave it or not, when you play on a WIFI Connection is better and just the same as arcade but boths need to play on Noob Stage (050-050)

Wow. @rzpmkkteam back from the dead?
JAJAJAJA something like that my friend, the thing is: Someone from the hell (down, down, down) is now beating me just because i can´t see the game like arcade, i see it slowly compared to the arcade version... but Hanzo just say and keep it that UMk3 Arcade and UMK3 Ps3/360 are just the same...

I will also tag @dreemernj in this as he might be able to give the technical reasons for the differences in speed. The MKAK versions are simply slower. There's no debate. The emulation is all kinds of crazy, the sound is different, the input is different.

There is nothing as good as the arcade, but the best console port of UMK3 is the XBLA 2006 version, it just sucks you can't config controls.

At my local arcade YesterCades, we have a supergun connected to the arcade cabinet so people can use playstation 1 and 2 controllers on it. When playing ChainAce, whose knowledge of the game really only stems from XBLA UMK3, MKAK and MAME, we were talking about this topic while playing on cab, as in what is considered the best version of the game. He said something like "this the absolute best way to play this game, it's lagless, the speed is perfect, no slowdown, I can't see how anyone could argue that." So again, that's from the perspective of a gamepad player who until he started working at an arcade probably never touched the arcade.

Exacly Shock, and yes the 2006´s version of UMk3 is a good port the only shitty thing is that you can´t conf controls...
A question: Did you played the NDS Version? i dunno if you´re a pad warrior (too) but i´d played the NDS version with hanzo and we both feel the game just perfect.. almost arcade the only bad thing is that you got to play only in noob stage because it´s lagless... btw is stupid this but.. in the MK2 version of the PS3 or 360 instead of be slow is the opposite is: faster than Arcade..

Huh, interesting, never heard about that.
did you played both version? well... yes, is not the same but is more "playable" hahahaa the earthquake of Jax sometimes fail because of the timing (is faster) same with Milenna... and the Scorpion´s Spear is faster... when perform the spear by pressing two "Shoryukens" +LP (standing crouch) try it and you´ll see!

It looks like MKAK for PC and PS3 runs all input and all sound through Unreal Engine. It's an extra layer of complexity on top of the emulation. I've actually been curious if the emulator itself was somehow implemented in Unreal Engine. Because that'd be fun.

MAME emulation does a good job but it doesn't emulate all the hardware, which leads to things like the frequent scrambled palette bug on UMK3. They cut down on that in recent versions of MAME but they did it by artificially bogging down the CPU every time there's a palette change. It doesn't mimic how the game hardware actually behaved, it just mimics the result.

2D MK is programmed strangely. It's hard to emulate. The XBLA version always felt amazingly close though. I don't know what the secret was with that.

UMK3 for DS is all over the place. When its good it feels really good. But when its bad, its the worst.

Hi Tony, can you please tell me which mame version you're using on ps3? I've used RetroArch mame and others but none of them are emultating right.

It had to be an accident. Things that were right never seemed like they were done that way on purpose lol.

That's just a Midway/NRS thing it seems.

PS- HI MIKE! <3

That could be a reason why the game lag in some parts...

LOL so the best UMK3 version is that one back in 2006?

Totally agreed!

Imo the ds uml reminded me of the snes in terms of speed game just felt fast. It wasn't a bad port imo but it felt very fast imo if I recall right compared to 360 2006 and even mame emulation.

Well mame emulation got some lag parts.. but in what i see mame is better than the MKAK version...

If I may put some info, there is something very important that must be said, about MAME emulation. The newer Mame versions have different input than older versions. Imo, 0.64 has the best input, when it comes to UMK3, and I'm not sure why, but in newer versions, it just feels somehow different. RZP, just try 0.64 and then lets say some newer version and you will notice the difference.

1. MKAK:
- PS3 - UMK3 - Weird input delay, even offline, game is slower.
- Xbox360 - UMK3 - game is slower again, the input seems better than PS3, but there is still delay.
- PC - Much better input, feels like newer mame versions, although still slower.

2. XBLA UMK3:
- Decent input, weird sound cuts here and there, no config option (as already mentioned) and missing stuff

3. UMK3 PS2:
- Loadings, Sound/Music glitches, character select palette glitch, slow downs, disappearing hsmoke, missing frames, no config, input seems too weird;

4. UMK3 DS:
- weird corner pressure physics, input delay when using bottom screen, slow downs, speed feels faster;

Yes, Exactly i used to play the 0.64 version... so then, this version is the best? i could play on the new mame version to notice the difference...

i knew it is not just me, all what is pissing me off is that hanzo says there´s nothing difference compared to arcade is just perfect and the same.. why the hell he said that?

putting the sound glitches we could say this is the best version to play with?
3. UMK3 PS2:

never liked this version.. and never will xD

Yes. Feel Faster...
