UPDATE (10/22/14 @ 7:00PM EST): It is confirmed that this will indeed be a live action web series based off of Mortal Kombat X. Source: GameInformer via @Zmoke

While the details are very unclear as to what this will be - news from the HollyWoodReporter indicates that there may be a Mortal Kombat X series (including an untitled Mortal Kombat series produced in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment that is tied to the upcoming Mortal Kombat X video game)? We've known that a Mortal Kombat Legacy season 3 was in the works, but as for the trail it would follow was and still is unclear. The question is, will this reported series be a continuation from Mortal Kombat Legacy season 2 or will it tie directly in to the upcoming Mortal Kombat X game set for 2015? What would make more sense considering we also have a digital comic book series also scheduled for January? Regardless, it sounds excited. I just wish there were more details on this. Check it out below:

Blue Ribbon has already given series orders to three shows, including an untitled Mortal Kombat series produced in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment that is tied to the upcoming Mortal Kombat X video game release in April 2015. The series is said to showcase some of the franchise's "most storied characters" and will introduce a new generation of fighters.

I thought this was going to be a fan-made webcomic about the advertures of kromie.
Why can't I hold all this disappoint?

But all seriousness, yay comics. Now I just need to learn how to read.
It is probably Legacy season 3. We know Casper has been training for the series, etc. I may still promote this, but whether or not this series is a continuation from Legacy season 2 or if it's going to be a prequel to MKX? Very unclear.

I don't think it's legacy season 3 tbh. "The Blue Ribbon banner is headed by Sam Register, an animation veteran who was tapped as president of Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series in April".

Great news, WB and DC are killing it with news lately, new shows, digital series, web series, animated series, comic book games etc

Yeah I think after Injustice they realised adults are more into MK than DC Comics.

THR reported the news, saying the new WB "Blue Ribbon" label has already given a series order for the new Mortal Kombat series, which is seemingly unrelated to Mortal Kombat: Legacy and instead tied specifically to the upcoming Mortal Kombat X.

According to THR, the new MK show will "showcase some of the franchise's 'most storied characters' and will introduce a new generation of fighters."

Plus on block.
I swear to god this better not effect the games story.

I really don't want a live action MK unless it's done a very specific way.

Should have just did animation.

lol yeah it's why I love MK and DC! They're aimed more at adults(like MK) than Marvel no doubt. Look at the many Vertigo titles under DC, and of course Batman stories(from the comics I mean) Joker cutting off his own face and wearing it...pretty messed up lol but of course MK being gritty and Mature as always, I asked Shawn Kittlesen on twitter if it's going to be rated, he said this "I can't imagine the book getting anything under an M rating"

:D
