Question how do play

RYX

BIG PUSHER
What are my options when using this guy? Like, go-to anti airs, best footsie options? What is usually his best starter for punishing stuff on block or whiff? In addition, how's his corner game and how can I mix up my RH cancels?

Why are his uppercut combos so hard to pull off online q_q

thanks for any help, I just put my copy of MK back in and discovered this guy is actually really fun to use, wanna keep playing him while I'm on this new reunion with MK

What are my options when using this guy? Like, go-to anti airs,
Standing 2 is one of the best AAs in the game.

2 xx Bubble > Backwards Uppercut > 43 xx Lightning > Roundhouse > 4(whiff)3 xx DB3 is like 41% too.

best footsie options?
4 xx Roundhouse or 43 xx roundhouse/roundhouse cancel/bubble (based on whether it hits or not) are always good options.

B2 1+3 might be his best footsies tool.

What is usually his best starter for punishing stuff on block or whiff?
43 xx Bubble is his high damage punisher, and 4 starts at 10 frames so it's pretty fast.

3 xx Roundhouse is a 9 frame starter with a nice hitbox for counterpoking and punishing stuff close up. You have to use this in certain situations, like punishing smoke bomb I think?

In addition, how's his corner game
It's really good, he gets insane damage in the corner, and b2 1+3 can keep them locked there along with his godlike AA standing 2 to prevent them from jumping out.

and how can I mix up my RH cancels?
The entire mixup game is 43 xx Roundhouse Cancel or 43 xx Roundhouse. If they press anything after the 43 and you let the roundhouse go, enjoy your 40% damage. Once they start respecting the roundhouse afterwards, you can do 43 xx Roundhouse Cancel, dash out and do it again. Eventually they have to press something, you just have to guess when that will be. Another pro to roundhouse pressure is that each hit of 43 xx Roundhouse does 2% on chip (most 2 hit strings in the game do 2% + 1%) so you're doing 6% per full string. Even if you do 43 xx cancel > dash > 43 xx roundhouse, that's 10% chip and half a bar of meter built.

It's very johnny cage like.

Why are his uppercut combos so hard to pull off online q_q
Anything off of grounded bubble seems possible online, so like 43 xx bubble > uppercut. Anything with one more juggle than that is kind of impossible online, like b2 1+3 > 2 xx bubble. That's life!

Remember though, if you fuck up the spacing of the uppercut combo after 43 xx bubble, and the uppercut launches them forward, you can actually save the combo by doing dash forward into d1 xx lightning. It does less damage, but it saves the combo. So it ends up being:

43 xx Bubble > Uppercut > d1 xx Lightning > Roundhouse > ender

You can find some Rain footage on youtube if that helps, it's pretty recent which is plus too I think.

There's more ofc. You can see some pressure, AA and footsie tools used there.

Lol I jumped into the Rain forum because @FCP/EMP SCAR has been pounding me with Rain and because I have ZERO MU xp against him.

I'm sure he can give you some tips... also EX Roundhouse cancel is insane

Wonder chef pretty much answered the basics, I will say this tho, RH cancels and EX RH cancels are Rains life when starting and maintaing pressure, but its up to u to make reads and bait the opponent into pressing buttons....these are some of the strings I like to use to bait opponents into hitting a button during RH cancels

4,3 RH
(1, 2) standing 3 RH
3, 3 RH
Jip 1, 2 F3, lightening into uppercut(After re standing with bubble)
