Have you ever withheld a pop-off?

Have you ever wanted to pop-off after a match but for some reason held it in? Has that pop-off haunted you ever since? Whether it was fear of dropping your controller, saltiness from the other player or whatever experience you might have had I'd love to hear your stories.

The point of this thread is to share and shed some light on the subject that pop-offs are not a bad thing.

They should not be instantly interpreted as an insult to the other player but instead as joy that they have excitement for being able to defeat you.

Letting pop-offs die out is like taking away soccer celebrations or touchdown celebrations being banned.

I'd much rather have someone feel accomplished and excited for defeating me then to just have a blank stare idk that just me but I'm talking to much what do you guys think?


If you want to keep things anynomous that's fine but please don't turn this into a bash thread and people don't take it personal if you are brought up in an example

I held in a pop off, but it was because all the guys I was with were super chill, and I felt like I would be a huge jerk being the only one to celebrate my close victory.

yes I have. One was because he is a good friend of mine. And the second one was the guy was super nice and didn't deserve to be popped off on.

I wanted to pop the Twitch stream off my tv during Evo grand finals two years running.

I remember when i played against Arma at a Yestercades tournament. And i beat him with a time out. There was no pop off. I was just back in my seat scared, nervous, happy. Idk what emotion i was feeling. But it was insane. Everyone even asked me why i did not pop off but i just couldn't

I think pop offs are great and well needed time to time. It generates hype and anticipation in the atmosphere. I feel a pop off should never get taken personally although at times people will get too emotional on it.

But I guess it depends on how you pop off and not if you pop off. If you're going apeshit in somebodies face for many minutes then that's a different story.
Oh and don't be the guy to pop off and you didn't really do anything spectactular. Nobody likes Fake hype lol

I remember watching a match between you and DJT at an MLG tourney in NY (I think) and you came back and beat his Cyrax and you could tell so bad you wanted to jump up and scream, but you had to stay professional or something for MLG.

Or am I thinking of someone else?

My pop off versus Detroitballin at evo 2012 was completely reflexive #YEEAAAPPP I was thrilled I got my first evo top 8, so I popped off immediately after winning.

At KiT, everyone had hyped up Master D as the best flash. So I decided that if I won, I would pop off saying that I trained with the best flash. However, before I played him, Harold asked me not to. So I didnt out of respect for him.

I remember wanting to pop off on a bunch of Capcom guys for beating one of them. I just couldn't do it.

Too frequent and felt forced. I was actually rooting for you at final round (I think that was the tournament), as everyone had been chatting shit about how you would never place and I wanted to see you prove them wrong, but then when you were popping off every time you landed a hit, man that got annoying.
