Question - Raiden What does the Raiden community want to know?

while i have you guys , how do i select the red raiden in mk9 i try start start but its still blue ???
You have to have his second costume, when it shows costume 1 then press start on it. If you don't have costume 2, go to a character that you do have costume 2 on, press start, press start again on costume 1, exit that character and press start on Raiden. Then you should have it lol

i explained that really shittily

Not sure why we have so many requests for meaningless details. My list:

-Does he have overhead/low options?
-Any good pokes?
-Hit-confirmable strings?
-Any strings that leave him at advantage?
-What are his universal specials? Specifically, does he have a universal teleport?

Thunder God:
-What does this variation actually give him?
-Does he have any good tools for opening up the opponent?

Displacer variant:
-What teleport options does he have?
-What does meter do for his teleports?
-Does he have frame traps?

Master of Storms:
-How's the startup/recovery for his traps? Are they going to be realistic to use in a match?
-Do the lightning mines have a hitbox before he connects them, or only after?
-How realistic is the mine-connecting move for a real fight?
-How long do the mines sit on screen before disappearing?

A lot of you are curious about raidens Displacer so here's what I'll do. I'll get me and my friend who is also going to pick raiden. In the match I'll check the advantage of as many of raiden's strings and normals when special canceled into teleport as I can. I'll do this by him blocking and then holding up and I'll hold up so I'll jump as soon as raiden recovers. Obviously nothing is finalised but at least we'll see if he's currently a frame monster like we hope he'll be :)

Spammer. Crouch walk hater.
I'm tired of fighting against Raiden bullshit all these games, so this time, I'm jumping on the "Displacer Broken Raiden" bandwagon. Instant day1main. So I want confirmation that Displacer is the most broken gruesome character ever and that it will never get patched.

I dunno guys.
I don't get all this "Raiden bullshit" and "displacer OP" cries.
What exactly right now makes you think it's going to be omg amazing? We've seen some teleport moves which are little different from what we've seen so far in MK9. Ability to pick side? Won't break the move. Delayed teleport? It's exactly EX-teleport from MK9, just without fakeout animation and possibly slower. Possibility of evading tele? Would be really good (and the only thing that is new to him), but you have to get that lifelead first and manage not to eat something with reach or interactible in the face in the process.

His normals and framedata will entirely make or break the character. I hope you guys get what it takes to understand this instead of keeping whining about MK9 Raiden (lol) and his ability to force a guessing game (that was hardly ever advantageous to him, but better than nothing) on pressure against him at best and giving free punish for your opponent at worst calling it "Raiden bullshit".
Yep, you couldn't spam projectiles at him in MK9. Not that you ever needed to.

Now, can we please quit crying until we at least know that tool X of character Y does anything against someone who at least knows most of said tool's properties, I'm not even talking about knowing some more matchup stuff at this point?

I really doubt he has teleport in other variations than Displacer.
I've seen him teleport in Thunder God, skip to 0:50 in the reveal trailer, however it could just be part of the string.

You are the bane of all existence, running to the thunder god out of hopes of broken-ness with no passion for the character.

@DreadKnight1 I'd say if at all possible record as much footage as you can, across all variations. Basically I want to know anything and everything.

probably the fear that it will turn out like the mk9 teleport again. remember how much people whined about it? not sure about offline, but online, it was way too much.

this is the winning answer. in raven's reveal trailer, a lot of people whined about her teleport saying it was too fast, but when the game came out, frame data dictated otherwise. so nrs clearly learned their lesson from raiden's teleport by making injustice teleports have too much recovery. this is why i'm interested to see what they do with his displacer teleport.

You know, just for the record, people do punish teleport online, and when they don't it means that Raiden gave them free pressure willingly (because why else you teleported just to stand there blocking?) on his huge-ass hitbox. I still fail to grasp what exactly is "too much" with that. Heck, even if you react to some forms of zoning with tp (probably one thing that tp does well), you may very well still be negative after landing. Predictable zoning with bad tools, punishing people who predictably input full strings without consideration - that's what tp does well. Other uses are anything but reliably advantageous and/or no-brainer.

So I really don't see what you're having problems with, aside from maybe online quality on your platform, but how about NRS address that instead of nerfing some tool to shit just because someone cries about being mildly frustrating after a session of underwater kombat online even without knowing said move's properties in the first place?

And please, comparing Raiden with Raven is gross. Maybe it would be at least somewhat justified if their TPs had similar purpose, if they both played the same game... And maybe if Raiden had at least half of the tools Raven had in addition to that TP.

look mk9 is almost 4 years old and i really no longer care about balance issues like raiden's teleport. if you think it's not that big of a deal, talk to all the people who thought different back in 2011 or anyone who still cares if there is any. you asked why people are crying about displacer and that's why. if his teleport is too fast, it will be like mk9 raiden, otherwise he'll probably just teleport everywhere like post patch ares. online of course made it worse and having as little lag as possible in mkx would be the best first step in balancing the game.

you asked why people are crying about displacer and that's why.
And I still don't get it. Like you said, people had 3.5 years to realize that it's situational move that can hardly be used against anyone who knows what he's doing, and when it can be used, you still end up at disadvantage half of the time.
This is beyond me how this thing even can be an issue. Long story short, if you're getting hit with 41+ f move sequence, or if you throw fullscreen projectiles at Raiden, then it's probably a matter of not knowing matchup.
So what, people are crying because they don't know matchups in a game that hasn't been released yet, is that your answer?
Figures.

we all put up with kabal in mk9 and raiden's advantage wont be anywahere near that good so relax people. wait for more information...
