Everything wrong with Destiny

Wow what a line. Very well said.
It's also the main principal that I disagree with most on.

Thank you for pointing this out, I think this is probably why I get so upset with people. Just a difference in philosophy.
In this particular context, all we are is gamers. We play a game, and as we're playing it we form an opinion. A gamer should not mindlessly accept any game he or she plays, and therefore, criticism is well within our rights (we're paying for it). Now, if I sit here and claim that I can do a better job than most video game companies at developing a game, I'd be lying. But the fact that I'm not a video game developer does not mean I don't know what I'm talking about if I say I didn't enjoy a game (though I maintain, Destiny IS enjoyable, just highly flawed).

Let me ask a question: Why is it that the philosophy of having to be a chef to judge a meal ONLY applies when someone has a negative opinion? If all we are as gamers is armchair critics when we "hate" on something (which might be correct), then we're also armchair critics when we praise something. Why do we not know what we're talking about only when we criticize?

For the "you have to be a chef" philosophy to work, it has to apply both ways, both when it comes to praise and criticism, otherwise, you shouldn't be saying the game is great the same way we shouldn't be saying it has its flaws.

That's how I view it at least.

Everything I've read and been told about the game sounds like this OP and thread combined w denial of those who want to think the game is good to justify the spending
Yep, I guess those people playing the game for over 50-60 hours within three weeks are all in denial.

A flawed game can still be fun. People can find enjoyment while still recognizing the problems in any form of entertainment. Mk9 is a fucking train wreck of balance problems and bugs and glitches and yet still so more fun and enjoyable than the much more polished and better made injustice.

I agree with the majority of complaints in this thread yet that doesn't stop me from enjoying the game nor does it make me a fanboy in denial. Fun factor is a subjective personal quantifier that can't be properly explained. Play what you enjoy and allow others to do the same and understand that not everyone will find the same things fun.

I think part of the problem people have with the game is just the little obvious things that were somehow totally disregarded that would have made the game so much more enjoyable. Stuff like random towns found within the games open world levels with NPCs you can interact with outside of the tower, a trading system, a freaking world map, better mission variation, an actual story with some depth (aside from the standard KILL EVERYTHING AND ASK NO QUESTIONS), and possibly 1 character that has a shred of personality. I do not beat around the bush about the game's problems...but at the same time I still do enjoy playing solo or with a team. I do think the game is worth the 60 dollars TBH, but with the knowledge of the huge scope of the game, budget, and hype surrounding it...it is hard to not be left wanting for obvious missteps that probably will never be corrected due to the game's design.

Yeah, the main problem is the flaws are so obvious that just a little tweaking could have shifted the game from fun to absolutely phenomenal.

Yeah, a tweak could have been adding more damn variety to the weapons.

More classes/subclasses would have been nice as well.

As far as I'm concerned, everyone got the "Limited Edition" of Destiny because the content is just that: limited.

give us the 3rd class already!!!!

I want to know how a Hunter uses void... how a Titan uses Solar and how a Warlock uses Arc.

I agree with most of the gripes about this game but shotguns aren't op. I enjoy PvP and actually rarely use shotguns in favor of the fusion rifles.

I just hate hearing scrubs complain about a close range gun while using something meant for mid/long range. How can you say the shotgun is op, if you get caught in their range with an auto, scout, pulse, pistol, or sniper?

If you don't want to deal with the shotguns, play a little more reserved and use a fusion. But that dance of blades is f-ing just unfair lol.

I agree they are not OP in close quarters, but they do need a slight range nerf IMO to balance out PVP better. Blade dancer is completely stupid in PVP...Bungie really needed to think about how that mechanic would work in pvp to make it slightly more risky. Not to mention that golden gun is also very powerful as well...

Oh hunters have the best two by far lol. I will say that most of my salt for BD is the super armor them seem to get lol.

I'm not at end game yet, but I agree for the most part with the complaints that a lot of players have voiced. On the positive side, the gunplay is solid because the controls are responsive and the weapons "feel" right.

Are there any "Wow, that was cool!" moments later? So far the story and missions have been kind of plain. For example, the original Halo introduced the Flood in a way that really got me hyped, so I'm hoping to run into something similar in Destiny.

The best mission in the game to me is The Sword of Crota.

If you enjoyed it, don't expect to get that kind of enjoyment from any other mission. They're all essentially the same thing as the others.

Because you're too busy having fun playing Destiny? =P
Yeah I never said the game wasn't fun. Doing the raid was seriously one of the most fun gaming experiences I have had in a while. I would explain why, but I don't even have time to explain.

I still haven't done it yet. =(

Still haven't completed nightfall yet. =( But this week's is the arc burn modifier and I certainly have arc weapons. I didn't have any solar weapons for last weeks. Got the last boss down to like 20% and we all died and decided, "fuck it." and quit.

Who is we?

I have 3 people i play with alot. We 3 are trying to level up to the raid maybe in a week or so, especially since my legendary engrams will be just that.

We could take our two teams of 3 and bop the raid.

This weeks Nightfall you could probably solo it is so easy. Just have to be careful and bring 7 or 8 ammo synthesis with you. There is a cover spot in the diagonal corner from where you enter the last room where no one can enter and no one can hit you when you take cover. I was doing 8k a shot with my sniper and he went down SUPPPPER fast. I actually thought the Nightfall was easier than the Weekly Heroic.
