Everything wrong with Destiny

They've GOT to implement matchmaking for the weekly/daily/nightfall/special stuff

They have to..... or the game will die out fast.

I just don't have enough friends who have the game to tackle them. I can only go so far solo.

I'm on-again/off-again with this game. I was one person who lived under a rock before Destiny came out and I heard absolutely nothing about it so I had no expectations. I enjoy it because I do like mindless games where I can just put some music on and chill while doing something I really don't have to think about like grinding Crucible marks or collecting Helium Filaments or killing 25 Hunters to get my New Monarchy rep as high as it can go.

I'm at the point where I'm just trying to upgrade my armor to full just for the sake of completion. Sure, it gets monotonous at times but that's what I have other games for. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Just got a legendary scout rifle. Meh as I didn't 'earn' it. 27 now and just need shards etc. for gear. Kind of losing interest now tbh.

I'm kinda in the same boat as @Vagrant here on this one. Keep in mind this post is nothing negative toward the aforementioned reviews of the title; it is just my opinion.

I believe the posts relative to the negative aspects of this game compare the game to way too many other titles that are only similar, and in some cases not even the same kind of game. I don't believe it was Bungie's goal to make anything simliar in fashion or anything close to the same as previous titles that COULD be comparable. I think it should be kept close that this game is NOT Borderlands, NOT Elder Scrolls, NOT Diablo, etc. This game is totally new and refreshes the idea of online gaming. Remember awhile back at E3 when a small company introduced No Man's Sky? Let's think about future games in that context now. These past titles did things that were revolutionary for their time period and as a result, games released after these titles are immediately compared to, say Borderlands, if it has ANY similar aspect to said game. For example, there is loot in the game, therefore, it MUST be the same as Borederlands or Diablo because "that is the only way a loot system should be." Now I'm not saying that these posts represent this opinion, however, they sure make it seem like it. As if anything other than the Borderlands system is downright wrong.

Niavity in video game creation is a double edge sword. Think about it like this. If every person that picked up the game was not interested in obtaining level 30 in 2 hours (in reality the quickest possible time, not literally 2 hours), do you think that the drastic difference in loot drops compared to Borderlands would even be an issue? Not at all, but because most gamers out there simply cannot wait and enjoy what the game has to offer, then it becomes a problem that everyone is not level 30 with all exotic gear right now. I don't believe you should earn gear simply by putting in the time. By that token, I should be able to turn on my console, sit in the tower for about a week, then come back and play the game fresh and get all those monster loot drops. Finding something of extreme rarity in the game should be first and foresmost rare, exciting, and you should feel like you got lucky in many ways. Buddy of mine had the PC version of Borderlands and he created his own guns with an outside program. To beat it all, he wanted me to play with him! Not fun at all! You running around with literally the very best peices of equipment in the game that you didn't even find and you want me to play with you? Hell no!

I believe the creators of Destiny wanted to make the rare items unlike any other rare items in game history. They were being naive to the fact that gamers would go around mob whoring to find the best because they have to have that now and not later. Great idea, but something that gets broken in reality. It's like asking people to give more of what they earn to people less fortunate. Not saying it's the exact same because they have no relation, just saying that it will never happen and that only exists in a perfect world.

I think all games get boring after awhile. I'll compare again to Borderlands. What was there to do after the story and side missionas were completed? Nothing except wait on the DLC that increased the level cap. How is this different from Destiny? Aren't we all juust sitting and waiting for an increase in the level cap or something similar so that we can continue the "grind" we have been doing since it came out? You can probably tell from my posts that I am nowhere near level 30. I'm actually level 25 with all legendary armor (that I purchased through a vendor by the way). I think that if it is turning monotonous then you need to put the damn game down for a bit. Anything and everything gets boring after you put in a 22 hour session in one day.

This game could have been the height of FPS...PERIOD. The negativity swirling is only in relation to other games that are completely different in their base concepts and principals. It was not meant to be the same games as those that it is compared to. Hell, it isn't even meant to be similar. Just because it has borrowed the very best concepts from some of the very best games does not mean it should be held in the same light. Take the competitive for instance. EVERY GUN CAN COMPETE WITH EVERY GUN. There is no exception to this except maybe light machine guns. Even with the LMG's you have to acquire the ammo to use these weapons. Same with shotguns. Just think if you got two teams knowing what they were doing at all times and circled their map control around the green ammo boxes; wouldn't that be a sight to see? Remember hardpoint in COD? There is a mini-harpoint in EVERY game of Destiny. What do you mean? I mean the heavy ammo crates. What if a team got together and timed the heavy ammo drops BEOFRE the announcer came over the action saying, "Heavy ammo on the way" similar to how you would pre-rotate in COD for hardpoints? Hell, I haven't even seen a competitive team spawn hunt yet in relation to ammo crates and pre-rotation for heavy drops. Now tell me this Crucible can't be competitive and tell me shotguns have a chance when a team is playing in this manner! Now something that is ridiculous is the Blade Dancer. I don't think anyone can disagree with that one. Even working together this motherfucker can just run in and hit melee and call GG's.

I'm sorry that I ranted a bit but I strongly feel that this game needs to be looked at a little differently than the others. Most things haven't even been hashed out yet properly in the game. I guess I'm lucky with engrams as well because I have a full legendary Hunter waiting on me when I start one up. Grant it, it does kinda stink when i'm playing my Titan and I decrypt a legendary for a completely different class! Part of things being rare though, and it makes you want to play every class in the long-run! Had to get these things off the chest...rant over!

Really? No one mentioned loot sharing/trading? Why the FUCK wasn't this put into a game like this?

I dont have this problem anymore since I'm 28 with all legendaries except my exotic primary and chest, but when I was a lower level looking for legendary armor, it would be HIGHLY annoying spending HOURS to find ONE legendary engram, and it would mostly like turn out to be a rare item or a legendary armor for ANOTHER FUCKING CLASS.

The fact that we can't even share items like that is so fucking dumb. Its obvious Bungie wants us to save those items for the next time we create a character, but I seriously doubt anyone is creating another character after fully maxing out their character.

That's my biggest complaint. I pretty much agree with everything @IKizzLE and @Fractured_Shadow said.

With trading it would have taken you 3 days to get where you are now gear wise. So instead of complaining about the game 2 weeks after release people would have been ranting about it 3 days after release. It also stymies farming companies from devaluing everything.

What I will concede is that during strikes and raids with fireteams the loot that drops should be trade-able.

6. The loot table is retarded. The system is based off of sheer number of mobs killed and not difficulty of mobs downed so therefore spots such as the gloryhole on earth will reign supreame because there is 0 reason why I would fight a level 28 ogre that has the same drop rate for legendary gear as a level 3 thrall with a 6 second respawn rate.
Wait, whaaaat? How is that possible? That is horrible design.

Even when I'm working on my stupid little indy projects, every enemy has a separate drop table so that... you know... bosses drop better than the first enemy in the game. Is that issue a bug or an oversight?

I doubt it's a bug or an oversight. It's just not common to be fighting enemies that are close to your level unless you're in an instanced area (the respawning restriction locations). So, it was probably the only thing they could really think to do, which is pretty fucking lazy.

This isn't necessarily a reply to you Khaotik, but you did bring up something I do actually have an opinion on.

I think the legendary engrams are dumb, ESPECIALLY when you get legendary armor for it. Like, by the time I had my faction up to Rank 2 so I could buy a legendary piece of armor, I had a legendary chestpiece and boots already because I just "happened" to pick up a purple gem somewhere (that I don't even remember).

The way it's designed is awesome IMO. Get to level 20, then pick a Faction you want to join based on how you want your load out to be (fast recovery on Super, Grenade or Ability). Rank that faction up to level 2 by playing games and completing bounties while wearing their mark to get your rep up. Once you get to level 2, you unlock all of the armor they have to offer, but you gotta have Crucible marks. But, since you can only get 100 marks a week, and the armor pieces cost either 65 or 120 based on what you want, you're really only going to get one piece a week. Based on this, NO ONE should have full legendary sets of armor yet because the game hasn't even been out a month. Plus, the factions are pretty much useless and I think that's a shame.

Not saying that that would increase the longevity of this game by a few months, but at least people wouldn't be "done" with it by now..... but yeah, engrams are dumb

The nerf to Queen Wrath items really hurt too.
That was the absolute dumbest thing they changed. Just make them drop a little more rare on the mission and do not make them guaranteed or something. It is really annoying to be stuck with gear that is slightly worse than what you have, but dismantling it gets you the same thing as a green drop...It basically makes the entire Queen's event worthless unless they have something else planned. Pretty unfortunate this is how they decided to change things.

I do understand though that they really don't want the people that are grinding to reach the absolute max and put down the game.

The problem I have seen with watching people play, is you get a healthy flow of new skills until you reach level 20, then it abruptly hits a wall, and it's grinding. Lots and lots of grinding....

We could put a level system in Halo. Where your guns upgrade each mission and do 20% more damage. But each mission, enemies become 20% stronger... The difference in the game would literally be non-existent, because they cancel each other out.

well, there would be a difference, which would be in our metaphorical version of "halo" I just created, you are forced to do previous missions multiple times in order to keep pace with leveling in order to proceed to the next mission...

And that's what the majority of Destiny's loot seems to be. The abilities of guns and upgrading them are too benign, and take too long. There's not a good feedback rate, and the feedback really doesn't make the requirement of letting me play differently- with the exception of exotics, which appear to take waaaaaay too long to get.

Loot needs to frequently change the entire way I play my character. If it's just increasing regular old stats, that does nothing but create the arbitrary barrier I just talked about. If the gun is so unique it offers me an entirely different way to play, it's not a grind because I'm never having the same experience for more than an hour at a time.

Is anyone else most dissapointed in the fact that there isnt a SINGLE FUCKING NPC outside of the tower and in the tower is nothing but vendors? What kind of fucking universe am I even saving from the darkness?
Y'know, now that you mention it, you're 100% right.

Final Fantasy 13 had more fuckin' towns and NPCs than this game and that was one of the game's biggest complaints when it first released, LOL.

I can't believe I forgot this. I have been bitching about it the second I had gotten a Warlock legendary helm and my Warlock friend had Titan gear. Stupid.

On a side note it is refreshing to see the lack of casuals posting in this thread. I whole heartedly expected LOTS of fan boys to RAGE at me and never offer any real rebuttle to my complaints. GGs TYM.

........ i never even thought about this...... but you're def. on to something.

That would def. create a longetvity and uniqueness to some of the weapons and the game.

especially when they release the Iron Banner.

Fuck man..... that would of been awesome.

I haven't been lucky enough to happen upon the legendary stuff yet..... only a few weapons. But I def. have my eye on doing things for a certain faction because of their armor.

I see your problems in two sections

One you played the hell outta the game. Probably "too" fast... but whatever. I understand those gripes. I ignore them because I just can't play that often and at that level of intensity. I'm a casual in this game for sure... but that doesn't mean your opinions are stupid.

The other are stuff I see and agree with. There are many things that make me scratch my head. Many. I think it doesn't bother me as much because I do have a few people to play with.

I don't agree with trading. I also don't agree with being able to randomly get an exotic, nor buy an exotic. I think those should come STRICTLY from all bounties.

Couple that with Shadowbeatz idea for Legendaries.... and now you have a game that rewards grinding out stuff on a different level.

Then again it also coudl turn everyone off because you get like maybe one legendary thing a week and that'll piss people off and so on and so forth.

who knows. I personally LOVE the exotic bounties.... even if they are a tad over the top. I just read about the Glass Vault tho..... and it is hella over the top.
