@LiangHuBBB had to leave the house right when you sent the invite. Sorry man ;_;

I've been playin the hell out of PVP. Can't get enough. Just got my first legendary: An auto rifle with the ability to retain the radar while ADS. Towels were needed.
So do gun perks count in PvP? I know leveling perks and gun damage are averaged out so I thought perks didn't work either.
If they do...that's pretty fucked if you're playing outside of Iron Banner mode.

My small semi review of the game so far.

I've been playing this game a lot since Tuesday. Even though I work full time, this week was slow so we only had 6 hour shifts, so I had extra time to play this week. The first thing you notice is the visual beauty of the game, getting the game for the XBONE was definitely the right choice. Everything from the background scenery to every animation is very well done, along with the details in character design.

The gameplay is solid as well. It feels fluid and responsive, as well as fun and requiring at least a decent amount of shooting skill due to the recoil. The melee system is awesome too, and really satisfying, at least as a Warlock (the only class I've played on so far). You'll have fun in this game based on the gameplay alone, no doubt.

However, there's a lot of missed opportunities with this game and it's fairly underwhelming. There's only 3 classes to choose from; Warlock, Titan, and Hunter. I've only used Warlock, and been playing with 2 friends who use the other two. The differences are there, and you'll definitely want to use all three. There should have definitely been at the minimum 5 different starting classes, and even that number seems low to me. The race you choose, as far as I know, is just for aesthetics. Anyway, the leveling up system is not very rewarding or diverse. It doesn't lend itself for creativity, you just have to essentially press "A" to get the next ability when you level up. There is a decision or two, but not enough for it to feel like your character is at all unique from another player who is using the same class as you. The sub class system is also not much different. You get some different abilities, but for the most part they're similar to the main class abilities. The whole system just is too cookie cutter and it could have been done a million time better.

The enemies aren't too different from one another either. Sure, they look different and have different healths and attack power, but that's about it. They pretty much behave the same, aside from one that uses a shield, and another that flies. The boss fights are nothing but tedious. They aren't fun. They don't require you to think or use strategy, they are just bigger enemies that have a ridiculous amount of health who can one shot you from afar, and if you get too close they all have a overpowered close attack as well. So they all are essentially played the same way; keep your distance while constantly emptying your clips into them, while infinite waves of less powerful enemies spawn in to annoy you. All this would be tolerable if after the fight was over it was at least rewarding. Like, you got some cool armor or weapon, or something other than some bullshit reward. But nope, the only good feeling you get is relief that you finally are done with that long ass boring and tedious boss fight. It's not satisfying, at all. In fact, "loot" drops in general are too rare and when you do get them, they're often not even that good so when you do get a loot drop, it's usually just like "meh, cool".

The "planets" you can free roam don't resemble planets at all. I was expecting a massive world like Skyrim where you could travel for ages and every once in awhile there would be dungeons, caves, cities, etc. It's sad that a country/territory in Skyrim, feels drastically bigger than 6 or so planets COMBINED! The exploration is just a bunch of the same stuff over and over, not to mention the missions are incredibly repetitive.

I could give a much more detailed and longer review, but I won't do that. The potential is staring you in the face the entire time, but it just never gets there. Maybe a year from now, with all the DLC and updates, this game will be much better. But right now, I'm just going to play some Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate, and wait for the Masterchief Collection. I'll still play it with friends though, and the multiplayer is fun but super scrubby.

This mean you don't like me?

Perks and class skills still work in PVP. So while a gun's damage may be balanced, if it has an ability that makes a round/ bullet do more damage, it will.

The boss fights sound like Borderlands boss fights.

The thing about Borderlands that makes it more enjoyable apart from having a story/characters that are actually worth investing in is the reward. Every time you turn around a corner there's some kind of loot chest or something that will give you that excitement that maybe you'll get that ONE gun that you've been needing. This game is just like "here, go shoot a bunch of bullet sponges and if you're lucky MAYBE we'll let them drop a weapon for you" I get that there are gold chests and while I haven't gotten around to it 5 chests per planet is pretty fucking minuscule. Maybe it's just me.

The golden chests aren't worth a shit, really.

But I agree with pretty much everything you said. I still love the game, however. I just went in with really high expectations and was severely let down.

is the vault shared across all characters?
I want to make a new character and nothing but crucible on it l0l
is crucible a viable way to get to lvl 20?

gotta stay sharp!
Any tips for playing in the crucible? I'm a lvl 10 titan and I do well against ppl my level but every few lobbies I get paired with some level 20s and idk what they are packing but I get wrecked. Should I just lvl up to 20 and get all the good weapons and stuff? I havnt played halo so I'm not very familiar with the multiplayer. Everyone is so hard to kill haha. Or to live long enough to have a chance.

Crucible is definitely the fastest way to level up. I think 15 levels in 2.5 hours is a slight exageration but it's definitely the fastest when you just want to get it done.

If you really just want to haul through the single player just do the main story missions and grind out levels in the crucible whenever you're underlevel'd.

Depends on the mode but generally speaking a few rules to live by:

- Play team based modes to cut your teeth. Not only will you have a higher chance of winning, you can see what other people are doing effectively.

- Stay with a teammate! Not necessarily right up his bum (as it's easy to get AoE'd from splash damage) but don't keep running off by yourself unless you're good.

- Know the game rules of the mode you're playing in. Objective based modes place priority on things OTHER than just straight kills.

- Map familiarity helps (that'll come with time and repetitive play though).

For me, the only reason to ever play a game is for the GAMEplay. I can count the number of games on one hand that had shitty gameplay but a good narrative that I finished and loved. And destiny has it. The shooting, movement and melee mechanics are some of the best I've played in an FPS since a long time.

It is light on content but what little there is, is still amazingly enjoyable. Every MMO's launch is fraught with glitches and bugs and server crashes and missed content. Hell, WoW's launch had huge issues too, but it grew into this almost unstoppable monster that stayed strong for 10 years.

I'm level 24 and almost done attaining tier 2 in my faction to buy my legendary armor with my crucible marks just getting ready for raids. If the support is there for years to come, I could see myself still plsying

I beat the story a couple days ago and have been doing PVP and strikes. Strikes are amazing and difficult.

I hit light level 22 last night and am still wanting more.

I am nost excited when they introduce the PVP mode that opens up the game and whoever is more powerful will win in most situations. This is why playing the game and continuously playing to get the best weapons is most important.

lol, it was fast, do bountys and shit as well, probably wasn't 2.5 but i know he didn't play for a super long time,

@NRF CharlieMurphy

How long did you play wed to go from 5 to the level you were at,

I'm loving the game today, actually have a day off to spend some time with it, it's pretty fuckin fun
