Hori Fight Commander 4: compatible with PS3/PS4/PC

No, Hori or Play-Asia aren't paying me to do this. I'm just posting this because I think the Hori Fight Commander 3 was the best pad available for fighting games and I want to let others know.

Hori just released the FC4, which not only works on PS3, but also PS4 and PC. I just received my FC4 and I all I had to do was plug into my PC and I was playing MK9 on default controls within seconds. No drivers or fiddling with button configs or anything. The d-pad is solid and non-floaty and the I love the big offset face buttons that are positioned to better fit your natural thumb orientation. No stupid R2/L2 triggers either, all normal buttons here.

It's available on Play-Asia now for $41 plus shipping. I've already bought 3 for when MKX drops. I'm also posting this because for a good while, Hori stopped production of the FC3 and you could only find them on Ebay for like $70. If you loved the FC3, you better snatch a couple of these puppies up before they disappear again.

Waiting for Havik
I read very good reviews about the FC3 but I'm still waiting for a wireless version. Much better than those madcatz pads (from what I heard).

I own both, the FC3 is much better. It comes down to preference, but the Madcatz d-pads are just too floaty and cushy for me. Also, I wouldn't hold my breath for a wireless version. The cords for the FC pads are pretty long if that's what you're concerned about.

gotta stay sharp!
This is cool. I might need to get this. I'm horrible on a stick and 6 button fighters are hard for me on a normal control. Is the dpad solid. And nothing like the Xbox dpad?

The d-pad is great, it's nothing like the shitty 360 d-pad. It's more rigid and doesn't "float". It feels more like a PS3 d-pad, only it's all one piece instead of separated.

I have this, I can confirm that the dpad is the exact same one as the FC3 Pro, it's great when it works, but it will break eventually because of the lock holding the dpad in place , I went through like 6 FC3 Pro, the dpad is fragile as hell.

It's true that they don't last with rigorous play, but honestly I don't know of a better 3rd party pad for fighting games.

I wish they would announce a U.S. release date. I don't do eBay and I would rather not import one from play Asia. Also how rough are some of you guys on your controllers? I've been using the same FC3 Pro since mk9 launch and no part has broken.

How is GG Xrd btw? How does it feel? Like sf4 or marvel?

I wish there was a solid pad for Xbox One! :(
If it's anything like the older Guilty Gears, it's going to feel closer to BlazBlue than SF or MVC. I am unbelievably hyped for it.

On topic, this pad looks sweet and I may pick one up.

How about the combo system?
You can cancel any string or special with a Roman Cancel, which takes up 2 bar, it pretty much works the same way as Flash's trait, meaning everything is in slow mo for a bit, so you can extend your combos. I think the game favors rush down over zoning. The gameplay is fast, but not as fast as UMVC3.

To the people that have this: how do you guys find the d-pad? Is it at least comfortable for games like Soulcalibur and Tekken?
And does anyone know if this will be sold anywhere other than Play-Asia?

Comfortable, but not durable. It should last quite a while for those games you mentioned, I just wouldn't recommend this for games like Guilty Gear and KOF. It's better than the DS4, but the build quality is poor.

I would pick it up when you can, I've seen the price increase multiple times already on Play-Asia and it's still a lower price than what you can find it for on other websites.

Dang, how long do you think it could last? I might make this a placeholder until I'm able to get a stick.

60 bucks isn't too bad, the wait is what I was trying to avoid. I might get two.

Thank you both.

Well, I had been using mine since October, the dpad started rotating on its own because of GG XRD, but you should be fine with Tekken and SC, cause I don't think those games require a lot of circle motion inputs

Yeah, not full circle motions. Just quarter circles I'm mostly worried about. Thank you!

The wait isn't much of a problem either, standard shipping says it'll take 7-12 days (I think) to be delivered after it gets shipped but for like $3 more you can get it delivered in 3-5 days after it gets shipped. I just ordered mine this past Monday in the afternoon and I'm receiving it this upcoming Monday.

Yeah I'm just very impatient and so used to waiting 3-5 days when buying stuff online. I'll just choose the faster one.
