Now, let me start off by saying that Scorpion is a boss of a character. Great design, great voice, really cool (but now pretty unoriginal) storyline, and a rivalry with Sub Zero that is iconic in Video Games today.

BUT!!!

The MK Poster Boy and all time favorite of Ed Boon is actually pretty awful in most of his competitive games!

He isn't bad in all games, but a lot of them.

MK9 - "Better not block my unsafe 50/50 or I'll punish you for 30%, but guess right and either drain all my meter from breaker or kill me with 80%+ combos and dash cancelling! Don't even try to armor out of anything, because my slide will shoot through your character model, or My two spears will shoot over your D3 and it may take some of your hair off!"

Injustice: Pre Patch - "Cool! I have my vortex back!"

Post Patch - "Well, I still have my vortex at least, be prepared to lose by guessing wrong 20 million times, because my whopping 20% combos will chip away at you and be super duper annoying. Just please don't pick anyone decent, because your MB Eye lazer in trait does more than my midscreen B&B. My J3 can work sometimes too!"

UMK3 - "I am Human Smoke in a wheelchair. Why does he have all my moves?"

Now we all know he isn't that great in the main games (besides the 3d era when he was pretty damn good.) But in your opinion, which version is truly the bottom of the barrel?

He struggled in MK9, and was nerfed to the ground by popular demand in Injustice, I thought it would be an interesting discussion to see what everyone thinks of this super badass hellfire Ninja that is probably way too shitty considering who he is.

Lets not have this turn into a trollbait argument fest though, lets keep it civil.

Not too familiar with UMK3 but I actually think MK9 Scorpion is better than Injustice Scorpion. He's just as unsafe but the reward is better. I actually think he has slightly better footsies too and he punishes very hard.

Injustice Scorpion is definitely bottom of the barrel visually.

We get it, your name is Scorpion. Your entire costume doesn't need to be covered with tacky Scorpion Stingers for us to get the reference.

If people actually took the time to learn how to fight scorp in Injustice this would be an easy answer. His risk/reward is never in his favor even in the best scenarios which should immediately interpret to being the worst in the game...period. But so few people use him now he gets away with murder which makes him a threat to some people.

MK9 Scorp is also very very bad. Terrible footsie tools, one of the worst dashes in the game, and not a single safe special move, launcher, or hit-confirmable string into a launcher unlike most of the cast. He did have a meterless vortex and was a very good punisher though. So he was still a threat despite not having any safe/damaging options to truly condition an opponent and impossible to chase fast backwalkers down cause his dash was horrendous.

I'll say this. I was a character loyalist in MK9 and stuck with him thick and thin. (mainly thick) In Injustice, I tried. But there is no masking a terrible risk/reward. Mathematically he's the most flawed character in the game.

I have a feeling MKX will be the one that he's really good in. Boon has probably had enough of him being low tier.

Also, in MK9, Scorpion got big reward off of anti airs and it was always a risk to jump at him/try to cross him up. So at least there's that. Come to think of it, I actually think MK9 Scorpion is a significantly better character than Injustice Scorpion, which says a lot since MK9 Scorpion sucked.

It depends on the criteria, if you mean the lowest tiered he's ever been, then I'm pretty sure he was the worst character in MK1. He was literally a gimmick in himself.

If you mean the outright essence of just being awfully hopeless with nothing good going for him, then, Injustice Scorpion, hands down. There are potentially characters worse than him in Injustice specifically however.

poor injustice scorpion, hanging out with mk9 kano and stryker in shitter town :(

i have no real interest in going near the MKX version of scorpion,only played him in injustice cause i dont like DC

Does anyone think the developers give Boon a choice, either have Scorp kill Sub in the reveal trailer but he will be low tier in the game, or have Sub kill Scorp in the reveal but he'll be top tier in the game and Boon just buckles every time to see Scorp get the kill?

I've mained each incarnation of scorpion in every MK he was in. I tried him in injustice. My honest opinion (though I'm not sure of the "specific" context of the question) I'd say MK1 and Injustice he was the worst to me in hindsight.
