Your move is blocked. You're at a huge disadvantage. Why mash?

Should you mash after being at a huge disadvantage?

I was under the impression that @xKhaoTik is talking about online play only.

Disadvantage != unsafe. You can be -5 and still be safe from punishes.

The theory is that since you are +5 you should have priority and they "should" respect it. But as Mr.Mileena pointed out, they don't have to respect you. You just assume they will no matter what but it doesn't work like that. You need to condition them, force them to respect your pressure. But if you don't use true blockstrings and/or if you keep leaving gaps in your strings or keep going for walk up/dash throw then you are giving them the information that you are overconfident in your ability to suppress them. So they would be stupid not to teach you a lesson and make you respect their options.

If it happens again and again, then it simply means you haven't learned your lesson and you deserve to lose.

And btw in the case where you really are unsafe on block (like -30 or whatever) then there is NO REASON not to mash lol. Because you're dead anyway. So you might as well try to mash in case they are 1 frame late / miss their punish. (well in SF at least, in Injustice it's probably better to just block since reversals have no invincibility)
Can't condition online players though lol, I don't know how many times I've played someone as Adam and done B23(blocked) d1(hit) B23(blocked) d1(hit) over and over, it's hilarious.

Care to chime in?? :p

The best thing to do if you're noticing a player trying to get out is to bait them into doing it and fuck them hard for it. Dink does this consistently with trance into combo that leads back to trance if you try something stupid to get out of quan's bullshit. lol

But I didn't want to dash
Because you can do more with advantage than just frame traps. What's the point in a frame trap if you know they will just block the followup every time? Frame traps would never lead to anything besides being pushed away from eacother if the defensive player didn't have to worry about other options like throw.

Its the same as disrespecting injustice frame traps, simple really, why not do it? Its a mind game to some. It shows you don't give a shit rather its plus or negative. If you don't capitalize on my scrubbiness you deserve to lose.
WoWo: Why aren't you respecting my frame traps?
Joker: Why aren't you punishing my recklessness?
WoWo: I'm expecting you to respect what I'm doing.
Joker: Make me.
WoWo: Why are you playing so reckless?
Joker: Why not? You aren't doing shit about it.

The point? Respect

This.

If the move is hella unsafe anyway and you just saw it was blocked why wouldn't you attempt to put something else on the screen? If they punish it its not like it was going to change regardless of you "mashing" or not. (I'm talking about the unsafe move being punished, not the follow up)

So my question is, why? Why do this? I mean, I think k it get it. After a blocked move, you're going to be punished anyways, so if you mash while the opponent misses the punish, you punish their punish attempt. Is that it? No shade to anyone who does this, but that seems extremely scrubby to me. I've even tried it once, and although I won, I felt so guilty knowing I got away with murder like that.
legit, if it works. going by your argumentation, is there any reason to NOT do it, or shouldnt it even be mandatory?

on the other hand, if they miss the punish by like 1-5 Frames so you can block but your mashed move will be beaten, its a risk.

But what about when your opponent is late on the punish, but late enough for you to actually hit him with something if you're mashing? In that case, he'll punish you anyway because you let go of block. Meaning that you would have had time to block his punish attempt because he was slightly late, but he wasn't late enough for you to actually attack and you got punished either way.

I did a small rant about this before lol. MKX should have a counter hit property. Yes, just because you're negative, doesn't mean you're entirely helpless, but should the game pick up you mashing for the sake of mashing *cough*d1 after b3, catdash,*cough* it should give you a damage boost, let alone like you said, mashing when there's no possible fucking option for the opponent yet they still do it

You have two options, mash or block. All you're doing is to see how your opponent reacts to that certain move you just did. Once you know how your opponent reacts, you're one step ahead of them and can plan accordingly to your next unsafe move.
