PS2 pad. It just feels right. I guess I've gotten used to it.

I use an arcade stick. Hated pad, never tried a hitbox. I like the stick because I can still be precise but I feel like the joystick is more natural than buttons if that makes sense haha

This is the arcade stick that I own but have only used like maybe 10 times at most. >_>

The cons you listed are hardly cons. Even though it is expensive, the investment is worth it. It is the better option in the longterm, practice makes perfect. I am the kinda guy that wouldn't allow a little money or time to get in the way of my improvement.
cons can be pros when you compare it to other options. I hear you loud and clear. I'll fork it up eventually.

Xbox360 Pad master race.

I sometimes switch between d-pad and analog stick during fights. Analog stick makes 720s and tigerknee motions easier but I find it super awkward to dash with. So for movement in general I use the d-pad.

I found a trick to kara-throw, multi-button tech, negative edge Ultra and do most things on pad. Unfortunately the only things I can't do consistently are plinks and pianoing. So there are some characters I can't play at all like Decapre in SF and characters who rely on 1 frame links.
I learned Street fighter on xbox and I do the same thing. For KI I use the xbox 1 pad but I really want Hitbox to come out with a box that can do 360 ps3 AND next gen. SICK

Did you make your own? If not where did you buy it?
I made it myself. Bought a Madcatz wii tekken tag stick that was on sale on madcatz website for $40 and then bought the green side panels for $20. I used a PS360+ pcb which I had as a back up replacement pcb for my other dual modded sticks. Sold off the sanwa buttons and stick from the tekken stick and used it to cover the price off face buttons i needed. I spent about $160 all together ( 40 for stick, 20 for side panels, 90 for pcb, wiring, acrylic top plate and metal button panel).

I prefer this style to the official hitbox, because I did not like the fact that the official hitbox was not wide enough to let my palms rest on them. Also the official hitbox has a common problem associated with the usb cable. It does not have a cable compartment, and the subsequent wrapping of the wire causes the usb cable to die out prematurely.

Interesting.

Have you used a hitbox with MK? Where do you put the block button?

My block button went were my interactable button goes now. If we are talking in terms of sf layout by block button was assigned to short. 1,2,3,4 were assigned to strong, fierce, forward and roundhouse respectively.

damn...I need like a diagram or something.

This is my worry if I get a hitbox. Where do I map both interactable and block and MB in MKX

I used pad for my first three competitive fgs (Tekken 3, GGXX, MK9) then switched to stick after ~ seven months of getting frustrated with them for injustice. I was instantly more comfortable, winning as much or before after only two weeks, and at three was pulling off harder combos (ZATANNA) with much less practice. I think any competitive player should try pad, stick, and hitbox for a while each to see which they really gel with. I tried keyboard for a while back in the day and never got comfortable enough to do basic combos, never mind win matches. Once I get me a dual modded stick I'm going back through every game I own to relearn and get nostalgic.
