So i bought a brand new 2013 Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport Hatch around 10 months ago and i always wanted to put a game console with tv in my car. Well today i finally finished it off and i'd thought i share some of the pics on how i did it..

So this is the after market TV i bought. Its a cheap Chinese one, but it came with some nice features.

Digital tv
DVD player
Sat Nav
Digital radio
Bluetooth
Ipod and Iphone connectivity
Usb and SD card inputs.
Aux input
Remote control

The screen itself is 6.5"

To mount the Playstation, i found a stainless steel plate 300 x 300mm and screwed it to the back of the rear seat. Underneath the plate, i taped on some velcro straps which act as a harness to hold the playstation into place.

I was going to go for a metal bracket, but i felt as though the velcro harness was a better choice because it lets the Playstation breath a little better and wont scratch it up.. Also its very easy to remove.

Some may ask "how do you put a disc in it"? Answer: I don't need to. This is a hacked ps3 which has over 2000 games on it. The games range from Ps3, Ps2, Ps1, Nes, Snes, Genesis, master system, GBA, Neo Geo and even MAME. Essentially, its a portable mini Arcade.

The system i have in my car puts out 1000w of power. That's a 12" sub. So every thud , bash or bang you here from in a game comes out very loud!

A view from the outside. The idea was to use the least amount of boot space (trunk space for you Americans), so as to still have plenty of room for storage. Even the subwoofer box is a small one.

This is the old inverter i was using, however it wasn't a pure sinewave , so i had to switch it out with a new one. If you do plan on putting a Ps3 or xbox in your car, make sure you use a pure sinewave inverter, otherwise you could damage your console.

The Ps3 outputs around 250w , so you will need a pure sinewave inverter that outputs around 300w minimum. My one outputs around 400w.

Unfortunately i didn't take a pic of my new inverter and its now installed behind my dashboard.

The inverter came with a kill switch which i installed on a blank accessories pad.
My previous inverter was installed straight to the ignition accessories, which basically means when you turn the key to start the car, the inverter remains on until you turn the car off. This switch however, allows me to turn the inverter on as i need it, which is a far superior solution.

A car phone holder also doubles as a ps3 controller holder lol.

As does the car cup holders.

How it looks onscreen.

The finished product.

Their appears to be no input lag which is good. It plays great!

EDIT:

Here is a followup video showing better how it all works.

Roadtrips sounds like ridiculous amounts of fun fun with this.

Can you list a few notable games you have on there?
All the MK's, All the Tekkens, Injustice, GTA 5. Thats just to name a few. I can essentially instal any ps3, ps2 or ps1 game you want.

Regarding the emulators, i have the complete sets for....

Snes, nes, genesis, master system, gba, neo geo and mame. though the mame set i think is 0.78. its the only set that works on the ps3. the amount of games i have is probably closer to 5000, all of which is installed on the ps3.

I can also connect my old ps2 (which is also hacked) and it too has most of the emulators installed.
Infact i use to have a ps2 installed in my old car , which is about 15 years ago.. It was a Mitsubishi Lancer evo 4.

You think that you made a sweet adult MK machine for your car but if you have kids well all know it's going to be all LEGO games all the time. Jokes aside though, it looks pretty awesome. Nice job!

I'm sorry but this it's imply not fair to own something as awesome as this :p

Looks great and everything but your steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car
You mean its on the correct side :p

Logically speaking most people are right handed. If your driving a manual car and you need to perform a tricky maneuver to avoid an accident, it would be best to have your strongest hand on the steering wheel and your weakest on the gear stick. You Americans are doing it wrong :REO

Thanks man. The output resolution is 576i, so its not in HD. I could not find a car tv which has hdmi inputs. But with the tv being the size that it is, its hard to tell the difference in quality. The image comes up quite clear.
