MK9 Side Tournament GF Viewership trounces all other FG's (And how MKX COULD be the biggest FG ever)

Let's stop and ask ourselves the question of the appeal or practicality of tournaments. I think that in order for the game to be exposed and grow tournaments need to be restructured. Multiple day tournaments in which you are forced to travel long distances and invenst money in food and lodging, isn't all that productive. I think that tournaments should be allocated to specific games, and if you could possibly attract a large number of mkx players, run mkx exclusive tournaments. This way you could drop venue fees, and increase buy ins because there is no hotel commitment, players would profit more and the experience would be less overly commited and relatively more logical.

I also find that given mkx has a good netcode, NETPLAY and online tournaments would have to be the answer or solution to grow a scene. Also this would need to be marketed to a variety of players through the game itself so they can atleast be informed or watched. The only way to get informed about these tournaments is to be a member of this site. I also think the online needs to be designed in a way that that fosters a competitive environment. The competitive scene is not properly marketed like games like league of legends and others. The players need to be marketed through the game and incentivized to become competitive, it is logical for netherrealm to invest a small amount in this, because the only market it hasn't tapped into or won't be saturated is the competitive market, and the potential for competitive games to grow is now. Personally, my philosophy is to extend as much influence in as many areas as you can affordably even if it doesn't provide a return or pan out necessarily because it increases your chance to hit a home run and increases the equity of your brand.

I think it would be interesting if this "persistent" online mode, in which people compete is similar to the ladder system in these games. I don't think there is any coincidence that the scenes in these games are big because the online design inherently breeds competition and growth. That being said, pc gamers are hardcore.

I would personally a month or two into the game throw out some tutorials as i am exceptional at explaining things like this (and find other tutorials don't thoroughly assess what needs to be communicated to a player), but these players need to be taught basic things.

They watched the video to see fatalities. When they realized there were none, they replied on how SonicFox sucks and they could beat him free.
Sadly, this would be the case for most. 95% of casuals will remain just that - casuals.

I can hear some of my friends now

- "Why are they turning blood off?"
- "This noob just keeps jabbing people while they're in the air instead of just uppercutting!"
- "Wow, this Kabal player is so shitty he's not even doing the dash spinny move right. He keeps stopping it before it even comes out!"
- "What's up with the blocking while they're dashing? Looks so scrubby" (this is an actual hatemail I received after beating someone online. The grammar was obviously terrible, but I cleaned it up. He also shit on me for "punching me out of the air every time I tried to jump in and fight you like a man")

I don't know if there's a game that has more ignorant casuals than MK. Don't get me wrong, I fucking love the shit out of this game and have since the second I saw Sub Zero rip a spine out, but there's just some people you can't help. These are the same people who will thoroughly enjoy Paul Blart Mall Cop as a DLC character because that was their favorite comedy of all time.

I dont think its wrong to cross promote games/franchise and its not like WB is the only Company doing that, Valve, Blizzard, EA and properly more did that in some fashion in the past as well. As long as it doesn't end up with 10 WB Characters as DLC instead of MK Characters i dont so that big of a problem. It might get some ppl to buy the Game because their are a fan of that specific Character and they might end up becoming a huge MK fan. Or someone who is a MK fan might become a fan of that specific Character and might end up buying games of this Characters franchise.

With the Patch problem WB most likely didnt want to invest more money into a game which dosent generate any kind of new money for them. Another Reason why a SF4 Style Update System would be good because they would make money everytime a new version gets released + potential Costume Packs.
cross promotion is the future of marketing, you are able to pool resources and get the same exposure, cutting costs and expanding influence. Plus humans have associative memory, so when one product is brought up, the association it has to another product is attached (sometimes subconsciously) so it resurfaces.

Fujin and Ermac for MK 11
Tons of views in general be it Evo stream, YT uploads whatever are good if they're high. Now most of us here of course watched it live but not everyone can do that do to life or perhaps not knowing the times, whatever so they watch/can watch on YT :)

I mean look at the MK X reveal trailer? Breaking 8 million in under a week? For a video game release premiere trailer?! That's ridiculously unheard of!

Actually... looking at just the archive views, I gotta unfortunately call into doubt these numbers unless there is a screenshot or something of it having 250k concurrent viewers.

Seems to much to be true.

Did you see my post with the picture. You replied by saying "oh I was joking", which made no sense in the context of the thing I posted. Which makes me think, you didn't even see what I posted.

I did see the post of the two ppl competing, you say they were the "Tourney Officials" my Joke about video with scarface is Frank betrayed Tony and tried to kill him, So Frank = Tourney Official, Tony = Top Player, Manolo = a friend to the Top Player. Bascially the Top player's friend ends the tourney official's life b/c they didnt pull stings to make the Top player win in the toruney, in general, THAT WAS THE JOKE.

See you don't even got my response, and you think cartoon characters wearing wigs playing in promotional madcatz booths are competing. Yet you come up with all this condescending responses that make no sense. I'm gonna stop now for SSR sake, because this is just too dumb.

I have a question for you though, did you even see the comment I put with the video?
