Injustice + EVO + Community: My Thoughts (Very Long + Covers a lot)

People will refuse to play on a monitor if it's not 2ms OFFLINE because of lag.
Sidetrack for a second...this is actually super weird, considering even an experienced player can barely detect a 2 frame delay, which is quite a ways larger than 2ms when playing a 60fps game. 2 frames are around 33ms, so yeah.

Sometimes real life gets in the way of games
Sometimes you just can't go

But it's good to see that adult-sized children can still lay out veiled insults about you from an internet soapbox over it though

Freedom is a wonderful thing
God bless America

It's cool man

Probably for the best, We would have gotten in an argument again anyway and then you would have lost your matches and blamed all of them again on an argument you couldn't mentally recover from like you did MLG.

Sounds like that day your jimmies were rustled in a way you couldn't recover while bit was in GF and I was in top 8 and then Evo rolls around and yea.......

Sucks lol

Enjoy your arc

Not really. You just stated an opinion.

Either way, the best thing to level you for playing MKX is MKX and since it isn't out other games will suffice when you have a background in both MK9 and Injustice. Doesn't hurt to broaden your experience.
It's my opinion, it isn't fact

This to me is the most toxic of all attitudes. It's honestly sickening. It reminds me of my 14 (young and prepubescent) year old self in 2009, as a beginning Rose player in SF4.

And this is my good transition to why I think the NRS community cannot advance unless they get over it.

So in 2009, I was a Rose player that only played online because I was 14 and couldn't go to local tournament let alone travel. I had a high online Rose rank though and people who played me online thought I was the best, but of course, Luffy (2014 EVO champion) was winning all the french tournaments and beating Daigo and was regarded as the best Rose, as he is. I simply refused to let it rock and I argued about the being the best Rose player, even when I had little results. As time passed, I got more and more results, and I still argued myself the best while Luffy was still winning the french tournaments. I hid all my tech and I had a lot of sick shit with Rose orbs that no other Rose did or knew and I didn't share with anyone because I wanted to only use to it myself. That's even more toxic, because our character couldn't advance and all the Rose players were not in good standing with one another.

But one day, I realized that being friends with the other Rose players and being friends with Luffy (we talk strats all the time) is the best, and it doesn't matter who is better, because we both benefit from the mutual relationship, he shares tactics with me and I share tactics with him. He WON EVO, I got 13th. It doesn't take anything away from me that he won, and my placing is nothing to scoff at. I'm still one of the best players in North America and he just got me that one tournament. We don't care who is better, we just get along, and no other Rose player cares who is better, and the only people who are using this discreprancy in placement are idiot stream monsters, that I shouldn't even let bug me.

But if all we care about is being the best with a character, then you won't advance as a tournament player and the community fails to advance because more likely than not, you're gonna hide something that 'separates' you as a player, which honestly, you shouldn't be hiding your tech because if you give tech to someone else, they will only find new ideas in terms of tech that they'd be willing to share with you.

But too bad the NRS community is unfortunately stuck in the vortex. Just the other day, there was an argument about best Wonder Woman, and I didn't even entertain it, I just gave props, because honestly, who cares? There should be more than one good player for your character so there will be things to be found.

If all you care about is affirmation to become the best with a character, then you're in the FGC for the wrong reason.

BTW @AK Pig Of The Hut I play Street Fighter for different reasons then the ones you listed ;).
It's a number of people who felt the need to keep saying this is the best aquaman, this is the best superman etc that made people feel obligated to be the best version of their character.

Goddamn, I'm sorry Zyphox but do you really need to make every thread into who the best flash is and trying to get props? Yeah you can be prideful or ambitious or whatever the hell you wanna call it but I can't think of anyone who has complained about not getting props more than you. I can remember 16 Bit blowing you up often almost a whole year ago for the same thing and yet here we are lol. Just let it go man
lol.. And here I thought people didn't notice.

i talk about flash to harold, honeybee, etc all the time. its just hard when everyone else is saying who is better between each other. i don't remember in MK9 days that people went in so much on who's better with their character, but in INJ it seems everyone was doing it. remember back before Final round, before the "new leaf". the top players for their character never forced the "i'm #1" thing, just like RL sports everyone else did and it adds pressure to the players, especially the ones with ego's like myself. i've never went up to harold or honeybee and said "my flash is better than yours", what i did was just state my case for why i think i'm the best and it usually gets interpreted as ego or cockiness or whatever. unlike most players i just voice my opinions rather than holding it and or staying quite/humble about it.
The same dude who caused the tom brady vs denzell bs is the same dude who has caused all these best version of character talk, just saying. People need to open their eyes and stop jumpin on the bandwagon. Don't get me wrong, it's okay for people to compete for being the best, but that's different from having to feel like shit or discredited when you're not the best version of said character.

Great write up, even though Injustice never got the numbers MK did over here, the passion for the game in the US was always enough to make us still follow it, always knowing the tourneys would get the numbers and there's always be a wide variety of skills and talent displayed in the end to watch and be entertained by.

That and me still being a Bane dork and constantly watching for whenever @BiPolarExxpress @GGA Max and @Biohazard were playing, and watching them get better each tournament they attended.

Evo was sick to watch, bring on MKX where we can do it all over again! :)

We want to watch you play with YOUR character. Not lame-ass aquaman. I have wayyy more respect for 16-Bit rather than Deg because 16-Bit is a character loyalist who doesn't run to Aquaman at the first sign of a 4-6 MU
As I told Sajam, Fair Enough. Just don't be surprised when your viewers lose respect for you and don't cry about it. I respect Captain Oxygen, 16-Bit, Pig, Digit for being loyal to their characters.
Bit used Frost for a good period thinking that his favorite wouldn't kut it, before switching and Pig was adamant about Sinestro until he found a character that was better.

Would I be konsidered a character loyalist if I placed and stuck with Martian sooner? Lots of times it's just about perspective. Someone sells you an idea and you buy it. I thought that character loyalty was everything until I played this game, put in tons of hours with Arrow and saw little results in a scene filled with terrible match ups.

I don't really play injustice anymore but I absolutely love watching the game at the highest level. I've always been a keen supporter of injustice and seeing the scene positively revitalised since 1.06 has been refreshing. The thing i'm not understanding is the negative energy toward the game at the moment, what the hell happened of recent times to change everyones stance on the game? Personally i think injustice is a brilliant game and i'll continue to watch any injustice tournament that is streamed with high level competition.

I also want to say a big shoutout to all the top players putting in work and supporting injustice. I love watching injustice from the turtliest aquaman to the most rushdown orientated doomsday. Seeing all the time you guys put into the game and the happiness it brings you all is actually inspiring. Watching the passion players like pig of the hut and 16 bit have really make injustice a game worth watching.

On the topic of leveling up your overall game by playing other fighters.

Play Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. You can play on GGPO where you can run into a lot of good players. That game will give you a much better understanding of fighting game fundamentals imo.
