TV Monitor Recommendations

TYM I need your help.

I want to buy a new TV monitor, my old CRT TV is not cutting it anymore. However, getting an ASUS monitor or anything like that is out of the question at the moment because of time and availability reasons.

So, what TV monitor brands/models do you recommend from your experience?

I have a Ben-Q. It has 2 MS of lag, plays great, has a screen that can adjust up/down or tilt front to back. The only down side is it has no speakers.

My buddy has an ASUS and I feel my Ben Q is much better

Depends on what you're looking for TBH. If you're looking for a gaming monitor then Benq is probably the best option out there. I recently got the
RL2455HM and I'm kind of in love with it.

I was myself thinking of getting a BenQ seeing MLG uses that one. However, I need to buy speakers even if I use the HDMI port, correct?

Correct. I have a sound bar for my 65" that connects through AVI on my ps3. So I set my visual to HDMI and audio through the sound bar. So when I watch movies I use my big TV and when I game I use my Ben Q and all I have to do is switch my HDMI cable.

By AVI you mean the RCA connector?

By the way, as long as the input delay is below 16.67 milliseconds, it will be "lagless". Basically, the input delay is under 1 frame in a 60fps game. Input delay is measured as a high and low, and usually the average is shown. To make sure it never straddles a 1 frame delay, I would recommend getting one where the high end is below 16.67 milliseconds, not just the average. Good luck with your search, plenty of good monitors to choose from.

2ms is the response time--that does not affect lag in the way that you know it. response time is the amount of time it takes for a pixel to turn on or off (in basic terms). Input delay is what affects lag--this is usually not advertised on the box or specs. If you are rocking the GL2450 (MLG Monitor), its input delay is 10ms.

This thread answered some questions I had about monitors, because I was thinking of getting one too. Thank you, Based Bild, for making this thread.

I went for the BenQ RL2455HM monitor. I'm just waiting for the shipment to arrive any day now.

Thanks to everyone for your recommendations.

Tryning to get an 39" 1080p 120 refreshrate, HD LED SmartTV. I wonder which brand is good.
major brands don't make LED smart tvs in 39", you would be looking for a 42". Samsung and sony both have great products but in the end you get what you pay for. if you go for the higher end stuff you'll get a great tv. but if you are just looking for fairly decent TV for a moderate price you'll likely find yourself looking at LG.

back on topic (sort of), I recently bought my end-all-be-all TV, I decided to go with the Sony W802A 55". this is significant because it has the fastest response time of any LED tv over 32" (16 ms to be exact) which is amazing because it doesn't affect my online play in the slightest bit. so anyone sitting on $1500 looking for a great tv, this was rated the #1 gaming tv to come out in years.
