The time and resources allocated to make these extra game modes that no one plays for more than a week should go towards balance and netcode.
People say this about Tag and Test Your Luck too. Hell, even Challenge Tower is viewed by some as non-essential.

How many modes are we going to say "we don't need, focus on competitive play" before we get a game stripped of all fun for casuals- meaning less overall sales, and ultimately less resources to make the next game with?
 
I don't think he's suggesting we change the overall game to be this.

I like all the gimmick things, cause they bring money. And money brings more MK.

But even if this design is applied in a mode which is not "gimmick", don't you think it's gonna kick out the whole "3 variations" thing?

Also someone made a good point: what happens when certain moves of different variations have the same input mapping?

Anyway as I said I would like to see all the gimmick stuff included. I am a huge supporter of TAG mode afterall.

I gotcha....but if you ever played deception, then you now how the stance change button worked. its really easy to program. I say say lets add it in and make it for fun!

The more I hear about this 3 styles thing, the more I'm just not feeling it. Hope they prove me wrong. They should just find a way to incorporate all three styles with some weird meter building system. Some way you could switch back and forth based meter or life lead. I don't know, just get creative with it.

Who cares? This site has over 25k members and a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of those members actually go to tournaments. Bring it all. They will obviously still have to work on balance post release anyway.

They aren't making the game for tym exclusively.

I would love this just as a mode for dicking around in. I really hope Test Your Luck comes back because it would be a great addition to one of the randomized elements.

dude, the competitive communioty is like 1% of sales... more casual fun modes is better for sales, though i would argue that the competitive community can grow and is an untapped market.

one again, the game doesn't revolve around competition, netcode is valid as for the experience but those game modes makes it fun for so many consumers, this is naive attitue to have.
