Tapatalk comeback?

As I'm sure is increasingly the case with a lot of us, I'm rarely if ever on a proper computer. I use my phone and tablet 98% of the time for any and all Internet browsing. Tym is not an exception.

Tapatalk used to be my go to tool for accessing the forums. Back in the mk9 and pre release igau days. But as anyone who used it faithfully as I did knows that it is no longer an option.

I'm curious as to why. Is there a money situation I'm unaware of? Is it a tech problem? Was it underused?

I for one loathe using the mobile site. It's clunky and unresponsive. It's hard to navigate. Checking notifications and pm's is so laborious that I usually just let them go unchecked for days at a time.

Does anyone share my thoughts?

I never got a chance to use it. However, if it's better than what the site is like on mobile phones, I would be all for helping get it back on its feet via donations if it is in fact a money issue.

I think Storm posted it was a problem with incoperating ads. Would love to have Tapatalk back for the MKX release.

My thoughts exactly. Trying to navigate the forums to learn tech and mu stuff is exponentially easier on tapatalk.

With the high demand for Tapatalk, we can consider turning it back on. You see, when we lost ads due to users essentially abusing signatures as well as posting inappropriate content on the forums, we lost our Google ads. What people may not understand is that all of these Ads PAY FOR THE SITE. It's not cheap to run on dedicated servers and it's not something I could do without the ads, therefore when we got our ads back we could only turn them on in certain places of the site. In doing this, we lost that potential ad revenue that would've been there to help may for server fees and maintenance.

This is a big reason why Tapatalk is not active, because Tapatalk doesn't actually support TYM. Yes, it's easier and faster... but financially, it does nothing for us. But again, perhaps I can talk to our webmaster about a trial run with Tapatalk to see if it doesn't affect us in a harmful way or not.

Maybe if there was a way to integrate it into Premium Membership? If you become a premium member you also get Tapatalk access? I would gladly pay $10/year for Tapatalk support.

So would I.

I mean hell, premium supporters shouldn't even see ads. But I enjoy the community here enough to overlook them.

Same here, right now I'm using mobile 90% of the time, Tapatalk would be amazing.

Thanks for the explanation. I certainly understand why then. If it's something you'd like to try then awesome. If not then I get it completely.

As awesome as an idea that is... I'm not sure if we can limit access. I will definitely look in to this! Thank you.

I'd pay for premium for Tapatalk use. I'll probably pay anyway once MK X releases since I'll be on it most days. But yeah, if Storms or whoever could consider it and let any members know how best to help/support I'm sure they would. Tis a good bunch of people we have on here.

@STORMS has their been anymore conversation relating to tapatalk? Using the mobile version of this site is BRUTAL at times. examples...

The page loads, you press on a thread/link/tab and BOOM! The entire page layout jumps around to accommodate an ad or image etc. making you press/click on a link you did not want. You have to wait a sarcastic amount of time to be sure you are clicking on what you want to click on.

Navigating forums is a pain in the *** on the mobile site. It feels like a spend more time trying to get where I want then actually using the site.

Clicking on notifications leaves the drop down menu in the way. I'm sure there is an easy way out but I'm to stupid to figure it out and end up rage mashing my screen.

Just in general it's really hard to keep up with things on the mobile version. Tapatalk had such a streamlined set up that I could get lost in threads for a long time. The mobile version does not offer the same ease of use.

Again, I certainly understand the motivations for doing away with it, but I know you mentioned you were going to look into it at some point in the past.

I use my iphone and tablet for this forum all the time and never had a problem or thought it was a chore.

Hey man, just wanna say thanks for answering the question. Not a lot of site admins would.

Hopefully somthing will work out because I am on my mobile 99% of the time even though I have a computer 15 feet from me lol.
