I think it's an interesting experiment, and a great opportunity to bring a female to the front for a change without making her too much about "girl-ness" (hopefully). We don't get many. And when the common public thinks superheroes, it's hard to find people whose idea of female heroes are of back-ups like BW in the avengers, or fragile supporting characters. There are some notable exceptions, but not enough.

Unless you're a girl that's into comics and reading from a young age, you don't see many super-heroes to look up to, while boys have had plenty for like a hundred years since Superman. So maybe this will give young girls a pop-recognizable superhero to "wish that they were", like many boys did with Batman/Wolverine/etc. So yeah, I'm curious to see how it goes and I hope it's successful.

in addition: Just because of the publicity this will get, young girls will find out about the existence of this. Like I said, growing up, you had to be into X-Men first to look up to a strong character like Jean Grey, or even Mystique. The girl heroes just haven't been very noticeable in the mainstream. On the flip side, even if you've never heard of comic books, you know who Batman is. Same can be said for plenty of male heroes. While girls have Wonder Woman, there should be more than that.

This is just going to be like when Dan Slott killed Peter Parker. Despite Superior Spider-Man being one of the coolest comics ever, it was complained about it nonstop because people didn't like the change. Also, Jason Aaron is writing this. If anyone knows who that is, you know we are going to get a fun, well written comic. Seriously, go get some of his "Wolverine and the X-Men" work.

I think it's Angela who will wield Mjoilnr at this point. She seems like the only female who would to me. But that's stupid that they are kicking a character who is at the height of his popularity since his creation so many years ago out of his own slot. What happens to him when this new wielder comes along?

Seems like a soulless publicity stunt to me. Interesting regardless though
It honestly could be. Marvel can go either way with this kind of thing. As I mentioned in my earlier post, Spider-Man temporarily was killed, and leading up to the event, it felt like a publicity stunt, but it turned out way better than expected. They are also leading up to an event called "The Death of Wolverine". This is an example of a bad publicity stunt.

Would bang. But in all seriousness, i think it wouldve been better to just give Valkyrie a solo book since shes practically Thors female counterpart. Better than knocking Thor out of his front row seat after hes payed his dues.
