Man Sonic plays a ton of instruments.

Ask @SonicFox5000 to play the Kuro/Toro theme from Street Fighter X Tekken, Or the Starman theme from Mario and you'll be in for a treat.

Unless you're in the damn lobby with him playing a game online, then you just may have to mute him until he stops. :3

The community-fueled Mortal Kombat side-tournament at Evolution concluded down to the Top 4 and then there was one! The tournament began last night at around 9PM EST and went on through the night down to the top 4. Players included all past Mortal Kombat EVO Champions featuring both Perfect Legend and reigning Champion, Denzell Terry. Below are the top 4 results!

Top 4 Mortal Kombat 9 Results
  • FNATIC Perfect Legend (Kabal/Kung Lao) vs RG Sonix Fox (Sonya) 3-0
  • RG Sonic Fox (Mileena) vs IC DJT 88 (Cyrax) 3-0
  • RG Sonic Fox (Sonya) vs C88 Daddy Dab (Johnny Cage/Jax) 4-0 RESET
  • RG Sonic Fox (Sonya) vs C88 Daddy Dab (Kabal/Liu Kang) 4-1
Congratulations to @SonicFox5000 for winning both Injustice: Gods Among Us and now Mortal Kombat 9 at EVOLUTION 2014!
It's a small point, but if you mention Perfect Legend first, and then say that the result is 3-0, it looks as if PL had won. By the way, I'm pretty sure PL vs Sonic Fox was 1-3, didn't PL win one match with Kung Lao? I think he lost two matches with Kabal, then switched to Kung Lao, won, and lost again in the rematch.

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
And here we have people like you, who think DJT dropping a million combos and missing out on full lifebar punishes is cyrax's shortcoming/mileena's viability.
While this is right, his point still stands, the contextual reasoning behind people not playing MK anymore because it's a 1-6 character game is just FGC ethics #101, that doesn't mean no characters beyond that can't get the job done.

Even top tier characters have matchups where their best tools are nullified. In this case, Cyrax's 80% reset combos... DJT wasn't prepared to get full damage punishes against Mileena, which would be 30% or so because you can't wait until she is grounded before you can punish her on Telekick or Roll. So when he landed a net, he went for a setup nearly every time. This is why he lost to Mileena.
I know Qwark has already to responded to this, but part of it could've been rust, DJT beat Pig's Mileena very convincingly when his Cyrax was going through baby steps at MLG Arena in 2012. Using a makeshift punish coupled with inadvertent gravity scaling exploits ain't exactly a reliable recipe if you're not playing the game regularly lol.

I haven't seen the archives though (only caught part of grand finals when it was streamed) so I can't give surefire judgment yet.

I know a good player when i see one, and i spotted his talent back when he was 14. I've told million times on TYM, the player that definitely scares me the most is sonic, he would surely give me a run for my money lol.

He is good, independent of what he does you should be prepares for guys like him, or run scared, its excitante that US has him.
Yeah, the vato does have talent though. Much respect.

Shout outs to @AK Pig Of The Hut getting mad at me for not reporting my win when he was kalling me during the middle of my tournament match.. lol. Am I supposed to be that egotistical that I'm supposed to report my wins before they happen?

Give him a break dude. He busted his ass organizing. And I'm sure you know it's not easy getting 80 people to pay attention and do what their told. Like herding cats. Point is he was bound to make mistakes, but it can be incredibly frustrating trying to organize something like that.

I know.. I didn't give him sh*t during the fact. I'm just giving him sh*t just for fun now that he doesn't have to deal with running the tournament... I'm also mentioning it kuz I don't think he realized it and probably thought I was f*cking around.

Amazing stuff guys. I just watched the whole tournament on Pigs stream and on Youtube.
All I got to say is.... Congratulations to SonicFox!!!
You were brilliant and just went through everybody in a crushing fashion (even with some thrilling babies on the way. Hype!!).
I already called it that your yolo style would win it. But never did I think it would be this dominating. I think it wouldn't have even mattered if Reo was there; the outcome would have been the same.

I also want to say it was a thrill to see the peoples champ CDJr play MK9 again...with Jax!! I definitely didn't expect him to be this good after all this time (the champ still has it). His Jax brought hype like old times and I believe he gave SonixFox one of the hardest matches(despite the baby).

Big thanks to all who made this MK9 tournament possible. Looking at the donations page and the comments of the individual donors is just heartwarming and brings tears of joy. Fans from all over the world (from Russia to Brazil to Europe) donated hard money just to see their heros in MK9 action again. And they delivered with this tournament. Almost everybody actually came out (I only missed Reo and TomBrady. And maybe Maxter and CD).
Also I want to let people know that some MK devs donated big (like Shaun Himmerick and Steve Beran). And big MK sites actually stepped up with Kombat Network and Mortalkombatonline.com . And FQRGaming was just awesome.
The love for MK9 is clearly bigger than us all.

Also i was wondering...did Gross play? I was hoping to see another Gross-PL match as those are always hype and entertaining.
And did ChrisG play?
