What's new

EVO 2014 Hype & Updates Thread! It starts today.

Seriously, this is not JUST ANY TOURNAMENT. We wait the whole god damn year for this and all we'll get to see is a bunch of early beatdowns by top players over jobbers (no offense to anyone) and top 8.
dude, the bandwidth struggle is real even for something on evo's scale

tbh, i'd just be thankful my game is in evo at all. if it continues to grow at this rate, they'll have to start axing the smaller games to keep it a 3-day event...

the money evo makes could EASILY pay for like 100 4g plans

The issue this year wasn't so much bandwidth as it was stream time allocation -- while the Capcom pro tour is a positive thing (and a good first model for future FGC organization), the fact that the 3rd stream is mostly dark due to CapcomFighters only showing SF4 pools has deprived a few other games of additional stream time allocation.

It's something they'll have to figure out how to work in the future.

they prob worry that wouldn't be "professional" enough

so basically they just stick with a couple streams that they KNOW will be quality, with little risk

another issue with lots of streams is less control over commentary, which has gotten this scene in hot water in the past. with side streams that isn't evo's problem...if those were all official streams it would be a much different story
