Why does the NRS community think they are superior or equal to the Capcom community?

I don't like the hypocrisy I see from Capcom players like PR Rog and J Wong. There really aren't that many notable MK players that go and play a Capcom game, get bodied and then say "Come see me in SF, you scrub!" While they're almost certainly better players overall than us, I do feel that we handle the "debate" a little more maturely on a grand scale. We have Chris G doin' well in MK and IGAU (well, sort of) and Rico playing pretty much every game well. I'd be more curious about what they think than the people that are like "I do well at four different capcom games and KI, so any game that I attempt (mostly NRS games) and do poorly at I'll just say is a rotten game and anyone who plays it is worthless." I don't see anyone hating on GG or P4A or BBCP or any other fighting game like this. Probably just mad that the NRS games appeal more to a wider audience with all the dirty, filthy casuals. We're all going to get stamped out by MOBA's anyway, so can't we just get along and respect eachother's games while the going's good?

Ive been meaning to learn sf4 and mvc3 but its just so much to learn i feel like everyones too ahead. It would be like picking up mk9 for me at this point, love watching that game though.

I picked up ki and have been doing well for the most part. Ill def give the sf4 ultra characters a shot see if it clicks for me. Im trying to play more games.

I hate injustice online so bad. Ill try to play some this weekend thou. Btw my name is from kof 97 boss. I used to be a kof player.
But we have such a good connection when we play. :D It's damn near lag free.

I need more GL experience and you're my go-to guy for that.

Still training...
Capcom players are playing with a deeper bench.
Not only does more players playing Capcom games give them higher "odds" of having a top player, but more competition pushes the state of the game further faster as well.

It's harder to make top 8 in AE because the entire top 32 is filled with top class international comp. But that's pretty much it.

Crimson Shadow hit the nail on the head though. AE has pretty much been the same game since 2008-2010 with minor adjustments. So they've been finding and refining tech for over 5 years. They've been practicing tight links, playing footsies and doing safe jump option-selects for years. So naturally, the players are more knowledgeable about characters/MUs/frame data and the level of play is more refined.

I hope one day NRS games get on Capcom's level. But it's gonna be hard without serious international recognition.

I think most people who play NRS games exclusively feel like the Capcom meta is too developed to jump in at this point without having to make a huge time investment.

That being said I'm going to pick up Ultra when it drops. Cuz Hugo looks goofy AF.

Put MMH and Akuma on highest difficulty against each other, it might be a 6-4.

I don't know if I believe it 100%, but I won't argue that Capcom players may have better fundamentals than NRS players. Their experience is greater because their potential for experience is greater, but the NRS community's finest won't be beat by a high-level FG player just picking their game up.

Just for fun though, if it were MK9:

1. REO
2. DJT
3. PL
4. Pig
5. Wafflez

And for IGAU:

1. Jupiter
2. REO
3. Sonic Fox
4. Wound Cowboy
5. Forever King

SF4 is nearing 6 years old...pretty old at this point, but there's still room to get into it. It's not like ST or a good portion of the 3D fighters, where it's like "good luck catching up".

Also, to answer Soup, SF players would demolish us in their game, we would demolish in ours. Different games, different stuff all-around. Tokido thought about playing MK9, but then stopped when he saw where people were at in the game. Chris G's Jesus-like talent is fantastic, but it didn't stop him from getting overcome in MK9 on the simple fact that he didn't fine tune his play in MK9. REO went over to 3S and apparently was holding his own vs some seasoned players, but I doubt he could go over and play Japan without getting mopped up. It's no offense to him, but like Chris, he hasn't put that kinda time into the game (Though, dammit, I wanna see him play SF4 again).

I like to play Injustice a lot more than watching it being played. With SF4, I really don't like playing it but love watching High Level play during tournaments.

I feel like the Capcom community has the upper edge mainly because they've been in competitive fighting games longer than average than the NRS community. The same with Namco, that have been playing similar iterations of their game for years. If you look at mk's life span, the game has changed more radically as compared to Namco or SF, which have had years to develop their own footsies and neutral game in their respective games.

I feel if mk9 were still being played today, the neutral game would have been on a another level. Unfortunately, NRS has a tendency to completely revamp their games every iteration for some reason, which makes developing a solid neutral game difficult to establish. You don't just learn footsies in a month, it takes years, and I feel players like Justin Wong, Daigo, Alex Valle, etc...have been playing people and a variety of video games for so long, they know how players are going to react in said situations because they've been in those situations tons of times.

This is not at all dissing the NRS community. I just feel like compared to the Capcom and Namco communities players, they just have more overall experience with respective fighting games and breaking them down. Our scene just needs more time to mature in my opinion.

As for the list, DJT, REO, and PL come to mind for me. I feel they just have a better overall understanding of whiff punishing, spacing, baiting, and knowing when to walk forward better than most of the players in the community.

Hey @Insuperable you know the thread name and OP is two different question right? To answer the OP:

  1. Pig
  2. 16 Bit
  3. Tom Brady
  4. CD Jr.
  5. Reo.
Do you even need to know why? :p

To be perfectly honest most of those 2 or 4 games west or east coast players enter and win in are 9 out of 10 times other capcom games.....
ummm... no. KOF is not Capcom, MK is not capcom and injustice is not capcom, skull girls is not capcom, KI is not capcom.

Plus, many capcom players have topped many games at once. Hell, JW wins canada cup in MK while barely played the game. Chris g beats 16 bit so many times with a "broke back" retile and top in 4-5 different games last year (including MK 4th place, KOF 2nd, I believe won MVC, and top sf). Please explain to me, What accomplishments do injustice players can compare to something like that. Fuck lets talk big accomplishments (EVO), PR balrog got top 8 evo in injustice and chris g even got top 8 at evo in MK injustice. What injustice/mk main player have topped 3-5 games at once and top in evo with the games they play on the side.

Can we please stop kidding ourselves? Plus lets not start on foreign community. Most injustice/MK lies in europe and US. Capcom games have players from all over the world. The more players in the tournament the harder to top because of the higher chances of having more higher players, so it is harder to top and most capcom games have more players
