if you east coast guys are ever traveling through southwest ohio for whatever reason, allocate a few hours to get together with yours truly! I'm 10 hours away from a scene that I was born to be part of! :-\
Definitely. I would love to go to Season's Beatings again one day. If we do, we can always bring MKT.

Is the reason you guys dont play MKT on PS1 is it b/c of the lag? for example like Shang Tsung the game pauses a lil bit b/c of his transformations which effect gameplay or is it b/c it has the bosses which are banned characters...

Yea most of the original PSX fighting games like MKT and MK4 had terrible lag and loading times in areas. There were also lots of freezing glitches. I have MKT on PSX and 64 and the 64 version is def better in performance since it's a cartridge. Just my thoughts

Oh ok, yeah I have the PSX version and it does lag a lil and the loading times are a bitch when you play the arcade mode. But tournament wise I guess 64 is the better one to play with.

Shit, I never knew about the normal differences in N64. I had always wondered why the game was more preferred.

Hopefully my Linux laptop can run the N64 emulator with Kaillera so I can play this with some, along with UMK2. Pretty sweet how blockjabs went from so powerful in UMK3 to very easily countered in MKT N64 (Can we just call this MK64 lol?). I'd much rather play MK64 knowing this.

Damn, Gabe!!! What's up! Bring your ass to one of our sessions in massapequa (next one I'll be at will be the 25th) and we will play some MKT! I'll have my stick so you can play.
Yo Phil!! I'll save the details for later, but yeah, I've been OUT for a minute. Been playing more single player games I guess, and I got engaged (woohoo!), so that's where the time has gone. I still jump on MKAK or even UMK360 now and again, but I miss the real deal. I've been lurking here lately, and talk of MKT 64 as well as the new MK2 hack are really giving me the itch.

Mad busy lately but I'm gonna see if I can make it down to Blu Planet on the 25th! Definitely want a piece of this MKT action. The idea of an n64 arcade stick is cracking me up and I can't wait to try it.:p

It's because of various gameplay differences in n64 outlined in first post. It's like having a fresh 2D MK to play for the veteran players, since it was largely ignored in the American scene until recently. Through complete accident, it addresses some of the popular complaints about high-level UMK3 gameplay.

The loading in PS1 isn't the real problem; it's the fact that it's more accurate to the UMK3 gameplay than n64, and thus suffers from the same criticisms as UMK3 at the highest level.

Tay, we have yet to find a stable emulator for online play for MKT. I'm working on it though.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I haven't been playing much of anything these days, mainly focusing on streaming and softball, LOL. The new MK2 hack is pretty sick and fun to play, couple it with MKT and it's a new dawn of 2d MK fun!

I know RetroArch boasts GGPO online (allegedly, not sure how good it actually is). Not sure how well it operates, though.

I tried it, and the n64 emulation is shoddy. It's VERY slow and is probably the least user friendly emulator I've used since command prompt MAME, LOL.

Saw a video on youtube that if you play UMK3 on emulator MAME that if you unlock Ermac, Mileena, and Masked Sub-Zero that the character selection screen gets glitchy. you can still play and pick your character but its still anoying as fuck.

Ya'll gettin me all nostalgic. Still have my 64 with MKT, MK4, goldeneye, perfect dark, wrestle mania 2000 and smash brothers. Bout to break it out tonight ^_^
MKT, Goldeneye, and NFL Blitz 2000 are the 3 reasons I still own an N64. Heck, I never even owned Mario 64.

But back on track, while it IS softball season (which means my already anemic level of gaming goes down even more), I will see what I can do about getting some more MKT content for everyone. I do miss playing, but at tournaments, it's impossible to play and stream at the same time, so I'm officially retired from playing anything at tournaments until I'm no longer streaming.

That said, once I find a way to have stable online play with MKT, I'll certainly stream the games I play.
