Tech Lex's Inescapable Reset Loop (FoS only)

We all knew this was coming eventually, so here it is:

Before this was an infinite this was just a super-strong meterless vortex. Credit goes to @rev0lver for finding that MB Probes + Level 3 Lance blast could be combo'd off of for a guaranteed reset.

Watch the video, then read the rest of the post for an in-depth explanation, and some clarifications (which characters get out of this).

If you notice in the video, I start with only ONE bar of meter. By the time I need to use another bar of meter to keep the infinite going, I've already built a second bar of meter. By the nature of the moves used in this infinite, it builds meter crazy fast. So what would normally use 2 bars takes only 1 to start out with. That's effectively 1 bar for 100% damage (2 bars if you start with a low-starter).

The infinite works by allowing Lex to get his trait active mid-combo, allowing him to end with MB probes and have trait up simultaneously. Trait will absorb any wakeups or attacks, and probes will punish them by launching the enemy into the air. Also, the Lex player only needs to let go of the Upward Lance Blast charge the moment the opponent attempts to make a move- such as jump out or attack, and the Lance Blast + Probes will juggle them. For more on Lance Blast + Probe setups that where used in this infinite, read this thread I made a while ago (the first TWO posts, as the good stuff is in the second post):

CHARACTERS THAT GET OUT OF THIS

Unfortunately, this works on the MAJORITY of the cast but not everyone. Deathstroke, of course, having easily some of the best wake-ups in the game, can get out of this because of his safe-multihit wake-ups. Shazam gets out of this as well with his Atlas Torpedo wake-up, and cannot be punished for doing so either.

Most characters who "get out" of the infinite, however, cannot do so unscathed. Scorpion can escape from having this infinitely looped on him, but will be heavily punished as the probes will hit him out of his teleport. Though having repositioned behind Lex, the infinite cannot continue indefinitely.

I haven't tested for every character in the game, but only a handful seem to be able to get out of this so far, and even fewer of them seem to be able to avoid getting a hefty combo-punish as a result.

You haven't set the AI to tech roll the U3 so this only happens if they don't tech roll.

You can also pushblock the probes. Does trait absorb pushblocks like normal armour?

tech rolling doesn't matter either way. you have trait up, if they attack they'll be hit by probes, if they jump you should be able to react to it.

Do pushblock invincibility frames make the lance blast go through the opp?

it might not matter if it's pushblocked or not actually. since pushblocking lex with trait up doesn't affect him. you might be able to lvl 2 lance combo or something. or if it cancels out the lance you get a full combo.

Pushblock has some invincibility frames during which it can absorb attacks so it might absorb the lance blast, happens to Joker if he pushblocks people into teeth too late and it just happened to me with Lex when I was testing if I could pushblock probes, I had lex do a random B3 after the first probe and before the second and the pushblock absorbed the B3.

Yeah, what I'm saying is that when you pushblock Lex when he has trait up he doesn't take any stun from the pushblock and can punish them. So I'm not sure if that will work here.

Just tested the pushblock thing and its soooo weird (and dumb, it's really dumb they can pushblock at all)

They CAN pushblock the probe, and the invincibility frames of the pushblock will protect them from the probe hits. It will NOT protect them from the lance blast, but without the probe hit, Lex cannot combo off the Lance Blast.

However, the Lex player can react to a pushblock by dash-cancelling the lance blast as soon as he sees the push-block, and combo-ing with 112. Basically, you can "punish" the pushblock.

I'll test this more. It looks like it doesn't break this, but demands the Lex player to pay super-close attention because you have to do that dash cancel FAST.

@rev0lver this is what I'm talking about.

Think I've figured out the pushblock dilemma.

It seems by canceling 1 xx upward lance blast, you force them to pushblock the 1 instead of the probe, and the second probe hit will always juggle.

This gets around pushblock 100% of the time, assuming they are standing, because 1 will whiff if they are ducking. I'll test again to see if I can do the same with 2, but they key is I still need to be able to make sure Lance Blast can get to level 3 and release before the second probe hits so Lex can juggle off it.

Lots more testing to do...

Trust me, I'm a doctor
I forget the properties on Lex's charged lance blast, but I thought it was unblockable and blew up armor.
That's a new one.
But no, it doesn't blow up armor.
You can test it by doing 113xxlance blast with a grundy set to wake-up WC.
The full blast dings his armor, doesn't break it.
