What's new

EVOLUTION 2014 line-up will be locked in soon! What games do you want to see?

I think the line up will be:

USF4 (lock)
UMvC3 (lock)
KOF (high chance)
SSBM (high chance)
IGAU (toss up)
KI (lock)
DOAU/TT2/SCV (???)

Could be there if announced:

For every Evo they have always had at least one 3d game, so DOA has a pretty good chance. TTT2, one of my favorite fighting games, surprisingly could have a chance as well...it's pretty much a toss up between SCV, TTT2, and DOAU. Which ever the staff feels will have the most entrants and international representation will take the spot.

Another thing is that mk9 could have a chance if the staff decides not to have a 3d game this year (although there's only one time that I can recall were there wasn't a 3d game on the Evo lineup...going to say 2003 or '02 but I could be wrong). Either way, mk9 can still have a side tourney even if it's not announced.

Injustice was definitely in a tight spot. It had a lot of build up prior to Evo, getting stream views in tournaments equal to UMvC at majors when it dropped. Evo 2013 was reminiscent of T6 grand finals. Tekken wasn't able to bounce back, add to the fact that SCV was released so it was dropped. Although I doubt this will happen to injustice, unless they dropped it for mk9 (but mk9 has had considerably less entrants).

I think injustice has bounced back quite well, and unless anything ground breaking occurs it should make it. I also want to include injustice had a surprising number of international entrants for Evo 2k13 as well. I can't say it will be the same this year, but you never know.

I feel KI will be a lock, due to Microsoft's involvement in Evo. I also feel KI will have some international appeal as well, so that might be considered as well.

On the last note, I would love to see another anime fighter included to the roster. Although I don't follow their scene closely, P4A was considerably entertaining to me last year, and the US got a lot of wins in top 8 against international players than I thought they would. Any anime fighter would be fine.

Another NOTE: The evo staff could try to do a throwback and bring MvC2 on to the mainstage. It wouldn't seem like a long shot considering how ECT bringing it back was amazing to see.

tl;dr: Injustice has a good chance. Mk9 even if it doesn't get in can be a side tourney. Would love to see another anime game. KI is a lock imo

Play Monster Hunter!
Probably

USF4
UMVC3
KoF
Melee
TTT2
BBCP
Injustice
KI

USF4 and UMVC3 because they are the most popular.

KOF and Melee because of how hype they were last year.

Injustice, TTT2, BBCP, as token games for the NRS/3D/Anime communities.

KI because MS is sponsoring the event.

SF/MVC/KOF are locked obviously
SSBM and KI have to be locked as well
maybe SG
3rd year of MK9 was hype as fuck but i don't think it'll make it
dunno about injustice...

if SSBM does make it in, i'll probably end up popping my evo cherry :D

@AK GamerBlake , whats incomplete about KI? It'll get the same treatment every game with DLC gets.

The Injustice condition doesn't apply either because when Injustice got passed over, nobody had any idea how it was gonna play and we were all still paranoid about interactibles. Everybody knows how KI plays and is still gonna play come July.

I feel like if Tekken doesn't get the last bid, KI's going to get it just because so many top players are in on it.

The only games I care about making it are MK9 and Injustice. But I also like watching Killer Instinct so I hope that makes it too. Obviously SF4 and UMvC3 are automatically in. These 5 games would make a perfect Evo for me :D

What's up with the anti-Skullgirls sentiment?

The game seems un-dislike-able; offering balance and marvel hype at the same time, along with god-tier animation, sound, gameplay, details, and character variety, within the cast of nine.

That Dev Team, Lab Zero, has gone through so much of Big Publisher's bullshit, but still triumphed so greatly over that adversity, and delivered more community driven content for a game that everyone (except for some on here) seems to love.
Fan voted DLC characters, internet supporters of the game (The Best Friends Zaibatsu) have their own appearance in a stage.. I mean, come on.

Skullgirls has had to wait for a bit too long.

It has had the hypest side tournaments, ever.
Take it to the real stage, to bring more, even more amazing players in-- and expose the main streams to its glory.
