Cyrax Q&A

Alice

Haaave you met Sektor?
I see no thread like this, and I think we need one, to discuss Cyrax generally and widely.
So there are no specifications, you can ask, someone hopefully will answer you, best if you get more answers.

Haaave you met Sektor?
And the exact reason I made this one, is that for a question like mine I just won't make a new topic, it's not that big, but still good to see a few comments, and opinions.
So as a Cyrax I find myself in a problem with zoners, the teleport is just not safe enough to do that, and I need some time to set up my rushdown against a character. What do you think of Ex-chest saw? It's a fast starting projectile that will knock the opp down, giving you time to throw out a bomb and rush him down, giving you the advantage.
Any opinions?

thanks for making this, i was going to last night and completely forgot about it, hopefully now i can close some older threads and tidy it up a bit, but please, not every question needs its own thread haha

That was the intention sir, to make a place where Cyrax could be discussed this way. ^^
I really feel no need to start new topics, I mean a Guide, a Video Section, Combo Thread, New Tech Thread, Q&A, Matchups and a few others especially for Cyrax would be enough.

I need help in finding the highest dmg situational bnb-s for these situations depending whether u have 1 bar
1)anti air punish
2)rolling animation
3)far random net
P.S. Mustard please delete my other thread entirely!

EDIT: 1)anti air - 1,dash1,dash33~net,b+2,dash 121~mid bomb pressure 25%
2)same as above

I have several questions:

1: I often see players time the sticky bomb (B+2) in a way where it seems as the animation is cut short/it just seems quicker and from what I observed juggles the opponent a bit higher. How do you time this?

2: I'm kind of confused on the B+2 resets, clarification would be nice.

3: The anti air into bomb reset or BnB, don't specifically know what is it, I don't know how to do. The one where you net the player and let them fall on to a bomb.

4: I believe I know the core gameplay of Cyrax, but just in case, what should I know.

Good punishment after your opponent goes into roll mode?

I think the title is very specific. Also what is a good bnb without meter? If I JnP them then I do 2 1 net JnP 1 2 1 Saw (H Cyrax). If I catch them in the air with a random net, then I do JnP B+2 1 2 1 AA. Is these good? Thanks in advance :)

I'm no cyrax expert, but you can punish every character in roll mode with a full ground combo (except Mileena).

After an air net you can do mid bomb, wait for the opponent to fall, (22), NJP, b2, 121~anti air. You can also use close bomb, wait for the opponent to fall, command grab, NJP, b2, 121~anti air. I'm pretty sure it's a guaranteed reset. Don't quote on that though.

Oh.. I was having problems with mileena roll animation! and after the net you can´t throw a bomb :/

As a Quan player i asked my self "How is Cyrax not OP" after i saw Hidan fight Mustard.
I am not being salty about it i just think that he seems OP with his.

  • armored teleport
  • extreamly high damage combo resets
  • space controling bomb and net
  • low frame pokes
i am not saying any of these tools alone make him OP but, all of these together seem too much.

What am i not seeing Cyrax fanboys?

Guy had no Cyrax experience whatsoever and he was up against arguably the best Cyrax with a low tier character. He was supposed to look like that.

Plus he didn't use Quan's best tool against Cyrax, that EX zombie walk move that drains meter...

actually i have a decent amount of quan chi experience, i purposefully avoid the trance at all costs, if you take that away from quan he is VERY limited.

What is the proper term for this then?

Regardless no one has answered my question.

How is Cyrax not OP?

Still not seeing how hes not.....
teleporting to avoid a fullscreen superman, thats not even a good idea when the supermans full combo punishable on block.

with the exploits yes he is overpowered.

bombs and nets dont do shit against smart players.

low frame pokes, i dont see what you mean, many characters have a 6frame d1, or 7frame d3. and everyones d4 grants the same amount of frame advantage as far as im aware.

Mustard's right, the only armored move is his enhanced anti-air grab, and the armor doesn't activate right away. Trust me, I've tried using it to escape Dizzy"s JC frame traps, and it is of little use in that regard. His best standing poking strings all start with 9 frame moves, which many characters have, or have faster ones. One thing I will admit is that his crouching 4 is pretty awesome. Only the very best Cyrax's I've seen use it to it's fullest.

You can still full combo punish after having them bounce off your teleport. And there is actually a use for it! if your on 2% health or lower on the last round, all raiden has to do is a superman to win. Thats when it might be usefull to use it, as you dont take any guard damage from them bouncing off your teleport and you can still full combo punish him once you have blocked it.

I play agaisnt raiden almost exclusively (as you know) and ive used this trick several times against my friend with great success.
Ive also found you can punish raidens blocked superman with a jip, 2,1~net into combo

and you can also do a meterless combo upto 47% if you block it.

midbomb, 2,1~close bomb, ub+4, b+2, 1,2,1~ragdoll

timing is very tricky though. Can probably make that into 48%.

Punishable.
Really? let me get my .....(fumbles under the table)

Because it seems like the teleport is RARELY punishable.

And i agree with this :

rarely punishable only if you're slow and fuck it up. a cyrax teleport is mad easy to predict and punish, if you still cant then you just gotta work on your reactions.

if you cant punish it as quan chi with a 6 frame uppercut then i really dont know what else to suggest.

That's a cool idea. It seems scary too though since Raiden can teleport if you time it wrong. Theoretically, couldn't you punish it with an air net and then do your bomb trap?
