Important Reptile Pressure Thread

How exactly do you keep the pressure on your opponent? I have been told constantly to just keep the pressure on your opponent. So when I play and have that in mind nothing happens and I get BLOWN UP. I have no idea what Reptile pressure is. Please treat me like I am completely new to this and explain everything. Thanks in advance.

Rule N1 never finish you combos with slide if you are not gonna kill him........Insted after the second ball you hava a choise 32 slow ball or 321 bf2 then charge ex ball on the top of him so you can get a reset with 32 ball if the ex ball hitt him. The best set up is 32invis.122 slow ball 32 fast ball 321 bf2 then charge ex ball(you are still invisible and you are behind him, cause the bf2 changed sides and he have to be cearfull how he inputs the wake up). You can be poked after the invis. , but if you train them that you are finishing the 321 they will block........It is a set up not 100% granted...........Another thing ...d4 can be canceled to db2 which is low then overhead.......They are many more....but for now try those ones...

So what about characters with wakeup teleports? If I was to hover over him and use my ex forceball and wait for him to block it and waste my meter. He could just wakeup teleport (IE Kung Lao) and get a full combo off because I am just charging a forceball. What would I do in that case?

Im making a full guide video for this kind of thing for beginners to advanance players and these things will all be covered, Citizen snip and maybe THTB will help me. But questions like this should be post in Reptile Q and A. Please keep this thread clean, this doesnt need a new thread.

I'll keep this thread separate for now because pressuring on it's own is very important and I think it could be useful to share ideas on different approaches.

321, acid hand is an awesome pressure string that is safe on block (or very close to it). What I tend to do now is use that string several times and then when the opponent is conditioned to block the whole thing I will throw a 32 invis and then form there you have a lot of options from alternating between 321acid hand and 32 invis.

Move in with elbow dash. Learn the distance of the move so you can get as close as possible with elbow dashes. Reptile has great pressure once you get it going because he has the ability to constantly be in the opponent's face as long as you are the aggressor.

Snips, I find that if you fight against a good player 32 invisible allows your opponent to see that and poke out. I find that 32 is better because it doesnt show the stop invisible animation. But if you use 32 invisible sometimes, it will throw off your opponent and you will get a combo.

Anyways back to the topic. 32 =0 frame recovery, 321= 0 frame. So use this to your advantage, one example is 32 stop then do 321. If your opponent think you are gonna do something like 321 acid hand, then do 321 321 acid hand.

stand 1 works to because it is again 0 frame recovery. so do something like 1, 1, 122 ffb BNB or 1,1,1221. Remember 1221 is safe on block.

Remember down 4 is BEAST, i think down 4 acid hand is the best move in the game mix up lol. Your hit box becomes a little bitch, and its a low to mid mix up.

Im actually making it right now. Right now i'm in the process of asking people for help like editing and adding ideas/techs. It will probably be out in a week or two, so look out for that!!! I think this will be a nice guide to give back to the reptile forum and therefore maybe open up to more techs and tricks

Maybe if You didnt charge it for so long you wouldnt get treated so hard -_-. Just do slow ball then rush me . Ill be too busy blocking the slow ball so u can come in and 321 or wutever Reptis do... and or if I teleport just block and punish.

Wake up ex spin blows any thought of an Oki up. I throw out a fb and double dash to mess up wake up inputs. Teleport is not just blocked and punished, if its blocked you practically get a free string after, we can however dash out and dash back to punish.

In order to deal with KL, you need to react to what KL is doing. There is no way to perfectly counter KL with reptile. Down 4 can beat out teleport any day, spin can be punish with 321 bnb (37%), ex spin can be punish with f 2, ffb bnb (35% i believe). If he uses dive kick, counter with charge force ball. You can mess up his wake up spin with a triple dash when he is down. The problem with a lot of reptile I have seen is that they dont punish lao as they suppose to. Their reaction is usually use dash to punish the spins, but that doesnt do enough damage.

You need to make KL AFRAID to spin, 11% dash isnt gonna cut it.

I've stopped using 321slide as a mixup
switching to staying to 321AH
and maybe some new shit.
321slide can cost me to eat a full combo, not worth it in high level play.

Its defiantly worth it especially in high level play. Its a good way to check, its a good risk to take. Doing 321 acid hand all day will make you predictable. This is like saying that you dont throw out sub zero slide as a mix up because its dangerous, or when you dont do reptile dash because it is punishable by a full combo.

Of courses slide isnt something you should abuse

I agree with this, slide is a very good way to keep your opponent thinking about the low option. Just don't try to do too much with it.

Possibly, I feel safer mixing up my d4 and AH at times.
I just need to condition them to block higher then throw in a slide when they least expect it. Maybe 4/5 do AH, then slide like hey wassup.
Also, I think I read something about not ending combos with slide, and instead fbs, what do you guys think about that.

Yes d4 ah is also a very viable option. Don't do slide to end combos, it doesn't leave you at disadvantage but you're more susceptible to wake ups.

True, i've started to use it more often, trying to improve/change up my reptile play a lil bit, only for the good though.
Lol I hear you man, I have honestly been taking a break for a while, I have been playing this game too much for too long and really just need to chill for a while lol. I think I'm going to really get back in around Powerup and try and make it to my first real major.

321slide should only be used after conditioning the opponent with the 321ah. Same thing with the 32invis pressure. A good player will make 32invis worthless if you keep trying it and fail. However if you can draw the match out then things like slide and the invis pressure come in handy. The thing with slide is that technically the opponent can just fuzzy guard all the time and if you are against a very disciplined player, they will continue to do so. Where as 32invis pressure the worst that can happen is you get poked and lose your pressure string but you won't eat a ton of damage.

That's what I'm going to focus doing now is making sure they are conditioned to the 321AH.
Also, I tend not to use 32invis pressure for that exact reason. I'm usually just poked out of it.

That would be nice :p I mean if you watch the stream Wednesday that would help a lot, I'm going over my matches with Pig soon I think. I want to be on top of my game.
