Things that need fixing in MKAK - Use this thread ONLY

Posting my experience, dunno if redundant (PSN ver):

--Main Menu crashes if you cycle through the games too fast or switch to another game.
--Unpause causes input lock, very annoying when looking up Fatalities.
--Movelist is disabled until the word FIGHT!
--Goro's Lair music nonexistent (MK1).
--Scorpion's Voice cuts out (UMK3).
--Throw hitboxes need fixing in MK2/UMK3 to prevent sweep-into-throws, sweep-throws, or uppercut-throws.
--A.I. reads inputs, forcing you to spam roundhouse or jump kicks (or jump attack guessing games) or bait projectile teleport loops.
--Kodes are disabled in Online matches.
--Font is terrible even on 640x480.
--Net Lag is bad even for an Arcade game.
--They force you to look up Kombat Kodes to unlock Mileena/Ermac/Classic Sub Zero, when they should be selectable from the beginning (I prefer MK Trilogy anyways, despite its slower music on PSone).

I called Sony and got a refund to my PSN Wallet.
Thats avoidable in VS mode but the CPU will ALWAYS throw you no matter the attack you throw at it.

The Scorp/Smoke voice cut is also on the arcade. Mostly on Smoke.

Spoke with Shock last night after he got MKAK... it's true that the "Get Over Here" got cut off in the arcade because of limited sound channels, so that part is actually "arcade perfect".

Things like being thrown out of a sweep or uppercut were something that could happen in UMK3, so it's not a glitch and doesn't need to be patched, it was always part of the game.

As soon as I read months ago that this was going to be a "Perfect" Arcade Port? I knew they were going to fuck it up. At least I wasn't disappointed on that part.

It's one thing to throw counter an uppercut or sweep, it's another to sweep+OTG throw like it's a combo...Kung Lao in MK2 is especially guilty of this.

When playing UMK3, after hitting continue in ladder mode, about 50% of the time it stays at the different mode-choosing menu and waits until the time is up. You can't click anything. Does this happen to anyone else? I hate just sitting there for 15 seconds waiting for it to automatically choose "mortal kombat" so I can choose my character again.

McNasty

Moist.
anyone else having issues with buffering certain moves? cant tell if its me the controller the converter or the game.

There are graphical errors sometimes at the start of a match and also at the character select screen I've seen graphical errors above the model of the character, its like a black dot on the screen

MKF30

Fujin and Ermac for MK 11
Well, just played McNasty yesterday. Fun but laggy as hell lol...

I do hope they patch the online with MK2 and UMK3 more so. MK1 plays fine IMO.

The arcade port things are cool like Scorp missing his entire "Get Over...." that's kind of neat.

Hey did you guys notice in the options there's filters of the games? Are the different arcade revisions of the games or something? Can someone elaborate? I like the style differences too with normal TV, cab, wider etc, etc

The difficulty is too much.
IDK if that should be a problem tbh, this is supposed to be a "perfect" arcade port. And everyone knows that they stuffed the difficulty so people can put more quarters in. Granted you do have to cheese to beat the CPU, but thats how it was. Anyway from what I've heard[dont have the game :/]

Netcode
no music in goros lair
input delay after pausing but that might be on purpose
Difficulty[although thats not a problem for some people]
Fix throw hitboxes

i guess the voices getting cut off[scorpion] were on purpose? If so thats pretty cool but i thought it was a problem for awhile and alot of other people do too

Yes it does work with blood disabled... this is, as I said before, because the original arcade machines only had a few sound channels to work with, so when the blood splatter sound played, it cut off the "Get over here" sound.

I feel like all of us should demand mass refunds for this steaming turd. The whole reason I bought this was so I could play UMK3 online. I have it on Xbox, but I hate that controller. Had I known I couldn't play online, I would've just found some people to play it over a network with Mame or something.

"The Tower" Stage is laggier than other stages in MK2 MKAK, similar to "The Waterfront" on MKDS. I've always speculated this, but I think it is because there is an animated background. Both BGs are essentially a huge animated gif. I don't understand WHY that would lag the online play. :
The games need to be in sync on both sides of the connection. Each animation must be in sync, or you'd see different things then the opponent, which wouldn't be good. I'd assume that includes rendering the background animation as well. Just a theory.

You shouldn't really need to pass background animation information between two connections, you could mathematically determine what both players need to see (foreground, floor, characters, background) by using the coordinates of both characters on the screen automatically. Who the hell knows though I guess.

There are definitely some sprite issues, so that^ could be related. I just did 'the Tower' pit (umk3) and the background was blue instead of black. I got Smoke in MK2 and the floor was missing while the congrats text popped up. Plenty of little weird little sprites issues all over every game. I've been trying to avoid getting into the sprite problems until the Netplay is fixed, but I think it could be part of the problem like UMK3DS backgrounds.
Actually its even simpler than that. All the games need to do pass pass back and forth the player inputs for every frame.

I've got to think a ton of the problems with this collection stem from the fact that this was originally going to be an HD Kollection where they were going to keep the gameplay the same (the one thing thats intact) but gut the audio and sprites and replace them with new stuff.

The difficulty is too much.
My MK1 advice: Roundhouse when they're out of sweep range (twice at most), otherwise jump kick into sweep or backwards jump kick if you're cornered.

My MK2 advice: there's a sweet spot for roundhouse/uppercuts within sweep range, otherwise jump kicks and jump normals that can teleport and bait projectiles work. There's an Ultra-low jumpkick trap that works on Kintaro in corners. Jump punch teleport seems to work on Shao Kahn.

My UMK3 advice: Do NOT crouch without blocking, you get comboed. Otherwise you can try jump in combos on block if they stop moving, just don't fall for uppers and uppercut when they jump. Back jump punch into teleport baits projectiles, and Scorpion teleport is godly vs Motaro (forces wiff when blocked). Shao Kahn has a fat wakeup hitbox, so Sub Zero can freeze before he does anything, spear/teleport work too. Jump punch beats jump kick, jump kick beats NJ kick, just don't tempt Uppercuts.

wait...... so you guys thought they were going to perfectly put 3 classic arcade systems on to one downloadable client for a mere 10 dollars, WHILE they are busy patching Mk9 (which you complain about all the time). And you expected it to be not laggy or buggy?

Ya, why not? NRS wasn't doing the heavy lifting here. They were involved, but most of the work was done by that Oceans company.

ummmmm are you big in game development...?
Based on the fact that the developer was listed as Other Oceans here: http://ps3.ign.com/objects/083/083587.html, not NRS as is the case for MK9: http://ps3.ign.com/objects/143/14317281.html (click the More Info button next to the release date).

Do I write games for a living? No. Have I made some simple ones? Sure. I have over 10 years experience in software development though, and I orginally got started on that path by my desire to make games, so I'm using that to make some educated guesses.

The game's have been out for years and we've seen better releases in the past. Just MAME-ing the games and adding GGPO on top would be a million times better than what they offered. Actually, even just MAME-ing the games and using the MK9 netkode on top would a million times better than what they offered.

Can you unlock the secret characters with only one controller?
nope, need 2.

I expect that, Yes...
